Thanks guys. Hah wow. Transmission is fine! They said there is a little bit of metal in the pan but nothing serious. The front U-joint needs to be replaced, the carrier bearing, and they're going to do a trans service as well. (screen, filter, fluid) Also he suggested changing the plugs and possibly the coil on cylinder 3. There's a slight rattle coming for the heat shield too he said which is part of the noise i was hearing. But this is all music to my ears. Simple stuffs. :)

mine has about 180k km on it. i had to clean my throttle body last week. kept stalling while at idle. (just after disconnecting the battery when the truck always runs like shit) just wouldnt stay running but that seemed to be part of the fix. also put a new battery in it too.

i would check yours if i were you its super easy. GL op, im very impressed as is.

Ah! So I ended up having 2 new u-joints put in, a new carrier bearing, they dropped the trans pan and put a new filter, gasket, and fluid it. And don't get me wrong it's running smoother than it was, but there's still original symptoms left. Maybe someone can give me an idea of what could be causing this...When I take off from a stop and give more than 1/2 throttle I hear what I would call a popping/creaking sound. It doesn't seem to lose power when this happens. And it doesn't happen if I give less throttle. Shifting doesn't seem to be effected either. Really wondering if this shop just replaced some stuff that didn't HAVE to be.

Almost 387k now. That's like showroom man.:) I pass through Knoxville a few times a week for work. If you ever see a silver Tacoma with a black tailgate it's me! My stock tailgate bent really bad years ago, found a cheap one on eBay.

Possibly, I've never had one go out. Would that make a constant noise though? I'm wondering if maybe a engine mount has gone out and makes that creaking noise due to torque of acceleration. Maybe I can get a video of the noise and post it. It's something that seems to come from the left side. Would a bad torque converter cause any similar problems?

Subbed- and good luck! I know you can make it to a million- if a Yota can't, nobody can!!

Random: My 96 Taco barely has 144k on it- he's sat in a yard for the past 3-4 years after he blew his head on his last owner. I only just bought him.
