I'm just recently getting into trying new/better sauces. Anyone have any recommendations for some smoky hot sauces? My go-to has always been Tabasco Chipotle, but I suspect there is plenty out there that's better/hotter with a similar flavor. I appreciate any guidance!

Took me a year to notice this thread!? I love hot. Ghost....scorpion...I want it all. My girlfriend is a flight attendant so she, and all her friends, being back some noteworthy stuff. The last year or so I've been hooked on a Costa Rican company called Mono Loco. I've had 3 sampler packs so far and not a repeat bottle yet! Currently working on their Matasanos bottle, here's their description:
Our hottest sauce, made with Carolina Reaper, the hottest pepper in the world. One drop is enough to burn 9 human beings. Perfect remedy for those fireproof who are looking for the Supreme Enchilatum. Start with one drop daily per food and raise the dose to whatever you want when you want. Don’t let a website gives you orders.

I put 4 drops on each of my tacos tonight :hungry:

Here's my current liquid inventory, not pictured are the dry spices: ghost, habanero, red chile, Anaheim etc. The milder stuff is for the girlfriend. Habanero & above is for me.

If you like smoky then try Hamajang from Adoboloco.

El Yucateco black label is the smokiest thing I've ever had.... that wasn't scotch  In my pic above it's the front right bottle. It's no hotter than regular tobasco but the smoke flavor can't be beat. Available at every grocery store in SoCal, it's a very popular brand and easily findable.

My buddy brought that home for me with a bottle of Hawaiian bourbon. God I hope it's better than the bourbon :puke:
Some of the most interesting sweet hot sauces I've tried have been sourced from South Africa. The peppers they have there are amazing.

I've been a hot sauce guy for a long time, and finding something that's worthy of purchasing again is rare, but this stuff will always have a place in my fridge. The habanero citrus is 11/10

Different brand, but... they were at the Honey festival this past weekend. The Ghost was no joke. Didn't try the Carolina... Needed to be able to walk without rushing to a shitter.

I am fine with most spicy foods. But I do have IBS from years of eating foods that I shouldn't have from locations across the world. I still eat hot foods daily, only because everything else seems bland these days.

Anyway, I think I am going to try to smoke some peppers and make my own hot sauce when I get out to TN and get my new smoker. Might as well get that flavor profile built into it immediately! Wife may not be happy, but she can just drink some milk after the next pork butt I smoke.

I picked up my commemorative Cinco de Mayo Tapatío from El Pollo Loco.

Tapatío is an American hot sauce produced in Vernon, California. It is popular mainly in the United States, predominantly among Mexican American communities. "Tapatío" is the name given to people from Guadalajara, Jalisco: the place the company's founders emigrated from.
