The point was not the bolt. The point was THEE fix for this annoying sound.

If you feel better with the OEM bolt, so be it. I prefer the better finish!

Interesting, only ~ 36mm of unthreaded full width shank when ~ 47mm is really needed so that the one tab on the nut side of the LCA isnt hitting threads. Thanks a BUNCH for the pics! This helps me in my decision.

I might try to find something on McMaster-Carr that will fully support both tabs of the LCA and shock bushing via an unthreaded section but not allow the nut to run out of thread before full clamping.

After a test drive the major clunk seems to be gone. I torqued the bolts and as well the cam bolts of the LCA’s. So my personal recommendation is, check if your LCA’s are torqued first, then do a test drive and listen if the conditions change, then replace the bolts for the shock. Torque on while truck sitting on its weight, and finally test drive again. Cheers!

I just swapped out the OEM Tacoma bolts for the 4R bolts, #90105-14104 from eBay. I have Bilstein 8112 coil-overs for the last few years and the front of the truck has always had odd clicks, even with the OEM Yellow Bilsteins that I thought were coming from body or radiator mounts. Nope!
Took longer to raise the truck and remove the wheels!

    DO IT!

Ive been trying to find the cause of this click for 1.5 years since I put in my 6112s and new front end parts. When I did the install I rebuilt the whole front end and got rid of all the rusted nuts, washer, and bolts to replace them with shiny new parts. I wish I knew about this bolt, I would have purchased them when I bought all the new hardware from Toyota wholesale.

I still get some suspension click noises up front occasionally, but it’s nowhere near as bad as it was. Personally, I think the torque spec for the strut bolt is too low. I have never seen a truck with it that low. My frontier was like 140-150 ft lbs, and full size trucks are like 250 ft lbs. Similar to the low u-bolt torque, 60 on the strut seems super low.

    Nope.
Changed the bolts, torque it to #70 still have it / maybe less on some bumps.
Maybe i will go to #100 and see if it changes, 2016 sport 63K on it.

i don't see how it could be moving, if I'm not unloading the suspension on small bumps to make the noise.
If i have say #1000 LPS of down on the bolt and a bump pushes it up and unloads it to #500LPS.
When the hell is my wheel getting airborne to pull up on the lower control arm?

Damn. Dreading the day this comes back. Now I’m hoping this fix lasts the life of the bushing.

Did you fellas install new bushings for the bolt swaps?
