As long as your using the newest version of Itunes and are on the same wifi network it will work. Running 7 on my laptop and works perfectly. It's really a great app.

I just got my iphone last week, after I broke my watch addiction I got hooked on cell phones, this is my ninth cell phone in the last two years but I love it, I think it's my last (until the iphone 5).

I don't use a case or use screen protectors. I carry a little black cloth that came with my blackberry to wipe the smudges off. As far as apps go I try not to go overboard, yelp, redbox, ibooks, fox business, bloomberg, soundhound, poynt, tapatalk, pocketmoney, the weather channel, HD 4cast (I really miss berryweather) and word lens is awesome but I'll never use it.

The only things I don't like about this phone is how you have to jump through hoops to make one of your songs a ring-tone, no custom sms tones without jailbreaking it, which I'm not prepared to do yet, I hate going through itunes, and there's no visual notification, like an led or something on the front that blinks when you get a message.

but I knew all that before I bought it so they're not really deal breakers but even the cheapest old-timeiest phones can do all that.

Otterbox defender case if you're worried about dropping or anything. I had the commuter series otterbox but didn't like the way it fit (rubber around the edges would get caught in pants pockets and whatnot). I just got the defender and it's way better, doesn't feel as fragile but it's not the size of brick either haha

    Question ...sorry, me again!!

So, say you get a 16 gig iphone....
Is it actually less than 16 gigs after all the firmware/stuff is on it?

How much space do all the apps take up?

Just curious and trying to get a feel for the amount of room for all the apps I'll want and what room I'll have leftover for my mp3's....

Do some of you guys actually use up all of your 16 gigs or do most of you have the larger 32 version?
I'm only gonna start off with the 16 - I'm sure that'll be more than plenty for me.
    Thanks!

I've got the 3GS with 16GB. So far, I have 172 songs, 15 movies (mostly P90X), a lot of photos and about 50 apps. I still have 3.7 GB of free space left, too.

I'd say as long as you're not ripping you're whole music library or 4-hour documentaries into it, 16GB lasts quite a while.

If you have an iPhone 4 are you are willing to Jailbreak here is my idea of a perfect set up.

MyWi 4 (create a WiFi hotspot)
SBsettings & Activator (user interface tweaks)
Installious (download any App Store app for free)
    BiteSMS 5.1 (great SMS app)
LockInfo with weather (customize your lock screen)
    FakeClockUp (watch this video)

A 16 gb iPhone will give you 14gb of space after OS and stuff.

I currently have the following on my 16 gb iphone:

    586 Songs
    12 videos
    152 photos
77 apps (including TomTom GPS which is a 1.5 gb app.)

and I have 5 gb left over.

By the way, if you jailbreak your iPhone there is no need to every buy a app ever again, that includes legit apple app store apps and jailbroken apps. Want more details, PM me.

Anyone use the ShotTimer apps? We grabbed two different ones (free) and neither of them worked properly (V - iphone 4). I've read that they're not compatible with iphone 4 and/or the paid ones are a waste of money.

Off topic - If anyone has a suggestion for a real (inexpensive but functional) shot timer, send me a PM. :D

Another question - When putting TacomaWorld link directly on my front page...is there a TW logo that'll show up instead of a screen shot of the link?

when you click on "Add to Home Screen", tap on the icon, on some sites that will change it... but others it does nothing...

Other than jailbreaking and creating your own icons, thats your best bet...

When I tap on 'add to..' it just immediately makes an icon. No biggie.

I highly doubt I'll ever jailbreak it. It's a neat idea but I just don't know enough yet to dive into doing that. Besides.... jailbreaking voids the warrantee - and I'm not gonna tempt fait (or murphys law) by doing that until warrantee runs out.

Well Apple says that, but its not true.

I have had my iPhone 4 jailbroken for 9 months now. Last week the sleep button stopped working. All I had to do was restore it (to remove the jailbreak), take it to the Apple store and they looked at it for a while and gave me a new iPhone 4.

If you ever have a software issue you do the same thing. As long as you restore the phone before bringing it into an Apple store they will never (or care).
