Finished sound deadening all 4 doors, it really does make a difference in your music. I can feel more bass from the front speakers and everything seems louder so instead of listening at 25, I'm listening at 19. It cut down a small amount of outside noise but I feel like when I do the floor and ceiling that will cut back much more. This RAAMaudio RAAMmat BXT ii was real easy to work with. I didn't cut up any fingers or knuckles either. One tip when applying, I left the sheets aluminum side down in the sun so the rubber/adhesive could warm up. It made it extra sticky when applying. Other than that this is it until the amp/sub/enclosure arrive. Then the interior will be ripped out for wiring/sound deadener/installing.

I think that's just a damper you're installing. Its job is to control resonance - not block incoming sound. If you want to reduce noise from outside the truck, you need other stuff. MLV is probably the single best thing for that.

My Arc Audio xdi 850 5ch amp should be coming in early next week. Then it's more waiting for @Mr Marv to pump out the enclosure from his fun factory. :)

Great thread. I replaced the deck in my 2011 double cab (w/JBL) with a Pioneer 4200 NEX. Now I've gone down the rabbit hole of looking to upgrade speakers. First, I thought I'd just upgrade the speakers and leave the JBL amp and sub alone. Nope. From what I understand replacing those two ohm JBLs in the front doors with 4 ohm will lose volume... plus that amp isn't really much of an amp anyways. 20 RMS-ish worth of power to the front and back speakers (back are 4 ohm, incidentally).

So, that means upgrade the amp if I'm going that route. Here's my question... has anyone replaced the JBL amp with another, mounted it at that same location, and just cut the wiring harness and spliced in to existing 12 volt power and speaker leads?

You have a lot more going into the factory amp than power and speakers. See pic

Right, thanks. But if I knew which wire was which... I could make use of the 12 volt line, and each speaker wire out. Right? Only downside I can think of would be at some point I'd want to use better speaker wire.

Prob couldn't make use of the existing pre-amp line in. I know the JBL does some funky things with that because it uses a single right/left channel for both front and rear and then has a different way of managing the fade adjustments. I'd want to run true front/rear feeds from my deck.

Replacing the factory speakers is easy if I'm not running new speaker wire. But to keep that amp means you I wouldn't t get better sound by just replacing speakers... so why bother. So I thought, well, is there an easy way to swap that amp for one that would work? Can I spent a moderate amount of money for new speakers, an amp, and get a bit of improvement on my sound quality without rewiring everything? Maybe. Not sure.

Def plenty of arguments though for not reusing existing wires. Just wondered if anyone had done that.

Sound deadening should be done with every stereo install IMO. Also good choice on RAAMaudio.

can you get the jbl stereo system without getting the prem tech package? most of that tech package stuff is worthless. i would only want the jbl radio and maybe heated seats.

Just received a care package from KnuKoncepts today. This is about 99% of whats left to complete the wiring for my audio build. For under $50 I got 17' of power cable, 4' of ground cable (both 4 ga), fuse holder with 150A fuse, battery post adapter and terminal, and 2 wire terminals. Last on the list is RCA cables. Anyone have recommendations? P.S. I need them to be 3' or shorter in length

I feel like he got a lot of exposure from our threads so he got busy. Sucks you are waiting for your box but I'm glad Marv is doing well. Bitter sweet.

Might be right about that. He had ALOT of boxes to build when I ordered mine. No rush though, I'm still waiting on shocks to be built at King. We'll see what comes in first. Hopefully not everything because then I'm gonna want to take 2 weeks off work lol. Oh btw, have you seen a wiring diagram for the JBL amp? I have searched but no dice :( @1sttruckguy78
