    I would assume that there are just in line crossovers, doubt they would have that advanced of an amp in there. Look at the back of the tweeters, I would guess they have some resisters on them to block lower frequencies.

    Ya I've been researching this subject for some time, obviously I would prefer to keep my HU ( cost, convenience, apperance, simplicity) but from what I've read going aftermarket just makes more sense. New HU, new amp, new speakers, just like the old days lol. Just my take on it, someone else's opinion might differ

    Your lowest plug on the amp is the input from the headunit to the amplifier. The upper two are the outputs. Which color is which you got me. If it is anything like the second gens I can provide you with those schematics. Most of the colors should match.

    The factory amp is an everything limiter. The internal circuitry within is designed to only work with the 8 ohm speakers and sub that come in the truck. Anything of lower impedence ran on the otherwise stock system will fry out the amp and tear up your ear drums in short order.

    Not to mention the factory amp likes to clip and distort music. That alone tells me the system is underpowered and RMS overrated from the factory to make it seem more powerful than it actually is.

    I'm so glad I didn't get the jbl system from toyota.

    I just spoke to Mr Marv and I stand corrected from my earlier post. The signals are crossed over internally in the amp.
