Why did you cut the frame to do that? I didn't have to fuck with the frame. I only got the proper steering bearings and then had to machine the steering "column" the part inside the neck. It was slightly too long.

Ok! I picked up some flap discs and a wire wheel. I don' think I know what you're recommending
I'l check it out though for sure!

I was trying to do a Walking Dead build. Seemed easy enough. I meant i cut the rear subframe.

Yeah man. My bike sat all last summer and this winter. Mostly because I had it parked 2 blocks away from my apt building and I didn' feel like working on it. Now my motivation is back! And because I don't want it to become yard art in my back yard.

I did walking dead style before it was cool same with the stuff from sons of anarchy we were doing stuff like that before they hit the mainstream.

Sadly I don't think I'll ever ride again. I just lost a really close friend to a motorcycle accident and he left behind his wife and twin 3yr olds. He was doing everything right and was wearing all the proper and overkill as far as safety gear goes and some duesch pulled out in front of him. That is not the only person I've known to die or get hurt from a bike wreck. Now that I have a 5 yr old I can't really see myself riding anymore.

Flap discs are fucking awesome, but take off a lot of metal. They’ll be good for smoothing welds.

Yeah, I got em because we still have to knock down the welds. I happen to like the welds on there. I really wish I could just clear the bumper and be done with it. I like the mad max look of it before the rust.

Naw since I quit turning wrenches for a living I have kinda limited myself on doing a lot of working on crap. I started to loose interest in cars and stuff so I really just like to puts on my own stuff. Sold my jig for making bike chassis a while ago

You could just clean the rust off then get a flat clear and clear over the natural look and with a flat it won't be all shiny and oily looking

me too! I worked for Honda for a little while, as the quick lube guy. Learned alot, but never wanted to work on my own stuff, which was my hobby. So I quit, and now I enjoy it more. Just not in winter

@EatSleepTacos here's the email exchange from Eric and I.

Hey Eric, I'm from TacomaWorld, screen name is Redmann.

I am in the market for a new rear suspension setup on my 2009 Tacoma. I had gotten a sweet deal on King 2.0 Smoothie shocks with a remote reservoir. From my understanding, I'm working backwards, in terms of buying a shock before getting the shackle and leaf pack and seeing what kind of shock would suit my needs.

I have been discussing your hammer hangers with another TW member (stairgod if that matters). I can't seem to grasp the idea that the hammers are going to be better than a shackle flip. I had a phone convo with Shane (throttle231) and he highly recommends the hammers. My convo with stairgod though has me thinking differently.

What's the advantage with the hammers? It looks just like an OEM shackle hanger, just beefier. In fact, it looks like the bottom hangs lower than the OEM hanger. I attached a picture I found somewhere.

What leaf packs would you recommend with the hammers and the king shocks I already bought? I was planning on either dakars or deavers (depending on my wallet at that time, haha)

    ----------- his reply ----------

I was unable to answer yesterday as I was installing new leaf springs on a dually. The Hammer hangers make your ride better, and have less compromises than the shackle flip. The HH do not hurt bump travel, forcing the spring more negative at full bump like shackle flip can.

    So I'm still conflicted...
