can any of you fine ass gentlemen give me a quick low down on light bars? things to look for? things to take into consideration? I don't want an ebay special, but I also don't want to spend 800 either. I want a nice single row 40''

Hit up @memario1214 and discuss your price range, and he'll help you out. I'm curious as well because I'll be in the market for a single row 20" when my mobtown bumper is ready. I want a nice one, but don't need to be spending THAT much money on the expensive lights.

You want one that is at least IP67 rated, IP68 is the best. And you want something with decent quality led chips in it. I paid 50 bucks for mine, but it is only 13000 lumens. I wish I would have spent the extra for a caliraised 5d bar. It has 27000 lumens in the same size. With light bars, you truly get what you pay for.

Typically, yes. You want one with a good quality 5 watt chip like cree or osram.

Here is a good comparison for a budget version similar to the caliraised.

    https://www.amazon.com/Light-Northpole-Single-Driving-Waterproof/dp/B01KV9LUZ8?th=1&psc=1

The big difference is it has less chips than the caliraised. It only has 40 5 watt cree chips for a total of 200 watts, versus the caliraised that has 60 5 watt osram chips for a total of 300 watts.

But both claim to put out 20000 lumens...which given the difference in the number of chips, I highly doubt the Amazon bar is anywhere near that number.

I find it kind or weird that they are measuring LED light bars in watts lol isn't the measurement of LED's measured in Lumens? haha there isn't really a direct correlation between watts and lumens. but I guess if someone were to go buying a light without doing research wouldn't know and just assume high watts is what to look for. I mean yeah, more watts will be brighter, but it doesn't tell you how bright it will be

@08TRDOFFROAD the one thing I don't like about caliraised, is they don't give you a wiring harness or nothing right? like, I'm sorry but if I'm dropping 300+$, I expect to open up the box and have everything I need to install it, harness, relay and switch. the light bar you linked me would end up costing me about 250 cnd and that's before shipping, and if I had to buy a switch and wiring harness on top of that, shit adds up fast hahaha

You could always wire up your own harness. If you understand how a relay works, it's not hard at all. Plus then you can customize it to your needs, like I did with my lights and how they come on with my brights.

yeah I could, but the light bar will be going on my roof rack once I get one, so I would like a nice clean harness. yup I could buy some of that fancy Japanese finger trap wire loom, but honestly, by the time I buy everything to make it look professional and clean and up to my standards, I could have just bought a wire harness, or better yet, not have to buy one cuz it comes with the light bar :rofl:plus I will be wiring it to a switch in my dash anyways, no customization is going to be required, push no push off

haha very true. If I ever mount a lightbar on my roof, I'm going to just drill a hole and run the wires into the cab. I already have 14 holes in my roof between the prinsu and both antennas, so what's one more? :D
