@Subway4X4 is a good person to ask as he has a few. I would personally build one yourself, so you can get exactly what you need. Some stuff is less vital than other stuff. With axes/guns/knives etc I'd focus more on trauma stuff, like a tourniquet. My wife was issued an IFAK and brings it with us on any trip other than around town. Never know when you'll come across a car wreck or something of the sorts.

Nice! It looks like a good one. I just linked the first one that google pulled up as an example of what we have.

Hell yeah! Just make sure you know how to use what's in there, even if just the bare basics. Otherwise it's pretty useless

Gotcha. If there’s still plenty of tread left I might be interested.

Yeah I will definitely do that! I have a small bit of first aid training but nothing remotely close to trauma stuff but I’m sure I can find YouTube videos to show me.

That's what I'm gonna do! Youtube and ask my wife. I've looked into a first aid course through REI, but they're expensive as hell. Maybe for my birthday or something I'll do it

True, but there is the good Samaritan law put in place to protect those of us willing to help. According to wikipedia, every single state has some sort of Samaritan law in place to protect you. The whole idea is to cut down on hesitation. As long as you're acting in good faith and not being grossly negligent then you should be good

do u guys have a good samaritan act? they passed one up here not long ago to prevent that from happening, there are still some stipulations and I don't know all the details but essentially if ur trying to help u cant get sued by who u are trying to help lol

    EDIT: asked and answered

Yeah my gf is an ICU nurse so she probably has used some of it too so I can see what she knows.

And this will mainly be for me and people in my group. I’ve heard many stories about people helping others with things like cpr and being sued. Good samariatan law helps but it’s not enough sometimes. I’ve told my gf that if she sees someone in public somewhere to not help them because she could lose her nurses license if something were to go wrong or she do something wrong. Just help where you can without getting sued. It’s bad you even have to think that way anymore.

Edit: Didn’t tell her to not help at all but to just be careful on what you do to help. I’m not heartless. <3

i should learn how to use a tourniquet. It is something I am not used to. Does a belt can do the same job ?

the stuff i have in mine are gauze, bandages, band aid, medical tape, scissors and other misc items I added last year after doing my fisrt aid course, but again, after that if you don't practice or don't get into a situation you need it, you'll forget about half of what you knew how and when to use it...

It could, but the purpose built tourniquets aren't expensive (like $20)

I believe I have used electrical tape as a bandaid more than I have actual bandaids over the years.

oh yeah for sure, wrap some paper towel up or toilet paper and throw some tape on it haha I do it all the time at work. gets the job done until I have a chance to put an actual band aide on

You have nothing through the Navy?
I only heard stories of people getting sued trying to help from Americans... don't know why, but here it seems like people don't do it very much... or they do and we don't hear about it?

the only time I was "implied" in a car accident and went and talked to the wounded driver, saw if she wasn't knocked out, ask her if she was able to breath, and talk, then told her to not move and called the police. I let the officer take care of her after, keeping an eye on her by the time they came on the site. In that case, no blood and no fire, no cuts, so it was ok. But in a real emergency I don't think I'd be able to help because of a lack of knowledge
