I did a quick search and found him in the Colorado trading area trying to off load his camper/shell/topper.

Now I am double worried. He has not posted here, the secret lair & he is de modding the Coma Taco.

    Post up @TacomaCody

My god I hate dealerships. My windshield is cracked from a manufacturer defect with the windshield deicers, and it’s very obvious that was the cause. Went in this morning, and they denied the warranty. Said there’s a little chip along the crack and that’s what caused it. I was so mad, but kept my cool and took my keys and left. Gonna take some detailed pics and hit up Subaru corporate.

I'm alive, just working like a mofo. Looking to get a tonneau trying to reduce weight.

This is what they’re saying caused the crack that now spans the width of my windshield.

That doesn’t look like a chip that would’ve caused the crack. Just looks like a weak spot in the glass that just widened when the crack came through.

That's what I was thinking as well. Or the glass was already weak from the crack and a small rock caused a chip, when it would have normally bounced off.

Either way I know that it didn't cause it, because I watched the crack grow over the course of a week. Now it's a matter of proving it to Subaru.

I scheduled an appointment tomorrow morning with a different dealer, so I'll try my luck there. After that I'll go through corporate.

Edit: Got impatient and talked to corporate anyways. I told them I feel unsafe driving my car, which I feel is a buzz word with Subaru since they're all about safety.

At the end of my pinky in the black part of the windshield. They're woven into it like the de-icer on the back window

Yeah it’s definitely unsafe for anyone in the passenger seat because the airbag usually pushes off the glass in most cars. Not sure how yours is setup.

Does your insurance not cover windshields for free? With mine I can call and it’s covered for free without my rate or anything going up.

Yeah that’s why I stopped driving it and am driving the truck exclusively now until this gets taken care of. Just too unsafe.

I spoke to my insurance and unfortunately I have to pay a full deductible of $500. After this I’m going to see if I can add glass coverage with a $100 deductible.

Well $100 is definitely better than $500. That’s taking away money you could be spending on Betty. Lol

I hope everything gets resolved quick with it though. I know it’s tough DD-ing Betty with those new MTPs.

Little late to the party here and since I know squat about any of this, and since Randy has offered to help me install my lift if/when it happens, I am gonna do whatever he says to do without question, including the ECGS mod. I'm hoping to go a little higher than 2" so I will likely do shims and UCAs too. Again, only if he says so.

On the plus side, I just had to take Betty into a DC parking garage and I fit.

LOL, that's the first thing I did when we (our company) moved to downtown Baltimore, measure the truck and the lowest beam height. Had to take into consideration a roof rack, basket and lift. I can remove the basket any time I want (Thule Canyon) but would fit anyway!
