Fuck that! I did this shit and my boot tore completly around where the clamp was. I just rebooted my OEM shafts and having them put in this week. Gonna just leave them as normal now.

 

Maybe you slid it down too far? Or tightened the clamp too much?

 

Probably tightend too much. Still gonna say fuck it. How are those zip ties working for the boots on the B110's?

 

I like that the permit for them allows the permit holder to kill, injure, or harass. The latter 2 make no sense and should be off the list that's f-ed up. As an avid outdoorsman I don't think that's a good thing to do to wild life.

 

Not well. Once I hit full droop they came off. Going to try hose clamps next. If those somehow fail I’m cutting the boots off.

 

I don't have mine on for that reason lol. Didn't I tell you it's going to be a lost cause!

If the shock body had a better groove for the boot to sit in and a clamp/ziptie to nestle into that would help a lot.

As of the moment Im just letting them ride ontop of the shock. Tired of pulling them down and not sure Im gonna like how it looks with them cut off.

 

I’ll let you know how the hose clamp. I imagine it’ll either work well, or tear the boot. Time will tell.

They do! But that’s for CV axles, not shocks. Not a dumb question at all.

I would totally take you up on that, but these zip ties aren’t the best even though they’re super heavy duty

 

Thanks, my bad, should have read up more posts to see you all were talking shaft boots. And not shock boots.

So another dumb question, are all CV joint boots the same length or is the governing factor the shaft diameters?

 

So shock and shaft boots are one in the same, just commonly referred to as shock boots. Here’s a pic of the offender on my truck (this is the rear)



For CV axles in general, the boot size and length is determined by what’s needed to cover the joint.

On our trucks, some people replace it with a longer one to better accommodate being lifted. You can see on mine circled in red where the fins are constantly touching. The rubbing will eventually cause a premature failure of the boot itself. Cheap fix though so I’m not worried
