That's why when I am not 100% sure of what I say, I don't say, or I let clearly know that I may be wrong, so people can sort the information
    You didn't knew that?

@EatSleepTacos don't you use one of those Fumoto oil drain valves?

Yep I have the short nipple one on my subaru and the no nipple one on my truck and I love them.

The Subaru drain plug is at an angle, so I wanted to be able to feed the oil directly into the pan with no mess.

The Tacoma one is parallel to the ground so I didn't feel the need for a nipple. Plus I wanted it tucked up as high as possible while wheeling.

When I turned wrenches professionally I learned very quickly to watch and learn from the old guys they just didn't have the knowledge they had wisdom which was far more valuable to learn.

That is what I am thinking I know you wheel your truck hard and put the skids to use. I just don't want any issues with a big hit causing contact with it and then all of a sudden doing an oil change when I don't want one.

To be honest I don't even think about it anymore. There's at least a couple inches from the skid plate to the fumoto, so if I'm hitting something hard enough to cause an issue, I probably have bigger concerns.

That also comes down to how well your skid plate is designed. Mine is 3/16" steel with reinforcements, so it's not going anywhere.

Very similar to my situation here. I get to work with the "old guys" who pioneered the Radar system I work on. Their understanding and knowledge depth is incredible. I stick to them like glue when I can.

I've got one of those too somewhere in my mess of tools all you need though is a black light yellow glasses and the oil dye from the parts store to make one.

Yeah I run Castrol in all my vehicles as well. Big fan here too. Got some to do an oil change with today actually.

Yeah mine has a little but I like not having a lot of reinforcement keeps the weight down. Trying not to make my truck a super heavy pig though.

Good stuff @Kemosabe don't believe the "I can here it ball valve moving" and just replace it. That's not a guarantee it's working correctly lol

I got a chance to sit down with the oil engineer for the John Force Racing side and that man was an absolute mad scientist.
