Yeah I just have 3 or 4 ribs running the length of mine. Maybe adds a few pounds but nothing crazy.

I can say that they work. @HCJ has the same skid as I without the ribs, and he's got a really sharp dent on his from a shitty spotter running him into a rock *cough* it was me *cough*

Very true the springamathing can be weak and not working. Also a lot of the newer style ones like toyota uses don't have the old check ball and spring they use a flapper valve style.

Mine doesn't have the access plate or the center reinforcements it's just got some on the sides where it bends up. But I have seen them take some licks and barely dent. 3/16 is some pretty strong stuff. If ever I deform it enough to require the reinforcements I'll just get a double thick one.

Yeah the plate is for the 3rd gen, I don't have one either. That's just the pic Joe has on the site because they're the same skid otherwise.

Oh yeah because they went to the oil filter down low lol damn minivan motor. Funny how the 4runner kept the 4l yet the trucks got the short end of the stick.

Well on the 4runner the oil filter is on the bottom too. I did an oil change on Tylers truck and it was a PITA. Had to drop the skid and everything. Made me appreciate how easy our trucks are.

Yep I keep a cut down coke bottle to put under the drain on my oil filter housing to catch the little bit of oil that spills out.

For oil filter access on the third gens. The 2nd and 3rd gen skids are the same except that door, and Joe is too busy to update the website

Yep bad habit ha ha, always call it that. My old engine builder taught me it is important as the pcv influences optimum engine performance in newer engines mainly now lol. Originally only to satisfy EPA still junk. He said super fancy ones are the worst lol.

They are still simple you strip them down to what they actually need and it's easy peasy. Suck squeeze bang blow is all there is to it nothing will change with that.

 since my buddy passed who built a few engines for me in the past I've fallen off on my knowledge of keeping up with each engine design and components. I wasn't even aware Toyota used the flapper. I'm still solid with my old race engine knowledge thanks to him. I know what I'm changing sooner now lol though.
