I'm on my 3rd suspension setup on my truck. So in my opinion it is worth just getting shocks that have longer travel. That way your mods are going towards improvements to the truck rather than just doing band aid fixes with the eyelet extension.
But, if you go with the extension you should get more down travel, you will just suffer with up travel but that extra inch put in there.

You won't get more down travel as you shock still won't extend that far think of it like putting spacers on the coilovers you are still limited by the shock it just gives you the extra length for the lift. In essence you are getting the rear wheel further out of the wheel well but that's due to the 1" more lift not flex from the shock.

Yeah but it's still further down travel in a sense. Your tire will drop 1" lower than before.

Yeah kinda I get the point but it still doesn't add flex

No definitely not since he'll sacrifice uptravel. Longer shock is the way to go for overall travel gain.

Just go to a 14" shock. #randyfab makes AND installs a kit for like 50$, right?

Yes. But he can't drive through water afterwards because the cardboard it's made of will get wet.

The key is to cover it with duct tape afterwords. It adds strength, water proofness and removes the need to paint them

14". They wont work with stock location though. Neither will a 12". You're stuck with a 10" until you move it. With the shackle flip, my 5150 was my limiter.

Well technically the b110 are an 11” shock and fit in stock location with minimal uptravel modification.

Yeah I'll be doing a shackle flip, different leaf pack, and shock relocation.

Well randy i cant know everything. I know that the shortest 12" is waaayyy too long.
Well my shackle flip did nearly nothing without longer shocks.

Edit: i think the bamf relocate runs a 12". My ford towers will take a 14" because of where they are positioned and the overall height.

Yep with ~4.5" of lift the wheelers u bolt flip and superbumps I flatten the superbumps and still have ~1/8" of shock travel before it's bottomed out and the tire will near about drop completely out of the wheel well. It's my down travel limiter right now.

I'll be doing a modified archive garage set up. With a 1" body lift the shackle flip and the leaf pack I'm working on I may be able to stuff a 16" shock in there. Gotta do some more calculations and research though. Just the AG relocation I can put 14" shocks in there.
