Yea, I agree Mike. Unfortunately nothing is gonna make you look good. The best advice, just call, be firm and direct and say "Hey look, I'd like to have that ring back if you don't mind".

One of two things will happen.

    1) She will say sure. And then you have to figure out how to get it safely. Mail is out of the question unless you insure it.
    2) She will laugh and hang up.

What's good about this is, you don't have the ring now so you really don't have anything to lose. Who cares what she thinks of you after the fact. If she had any respect for you, this would not be occurring in the first place. Also, don't forget, you are not the first guy to be in this position.

If you feel it will help, tell her it has some sentimental value and a little piece of her is in that ring. (all BS of course, but hey, if it works).

Also, not knowing the full situation or this woman as well as you, and me being the demented fuck I am, I have to wonder, has she sold the real diamond and replaced it with a CZ? I also have to ask, why did she accept it in the first place unless a little part of her wanted to keep a little part of you............

It's tough Bro. But again, be firm, take a deep breath before you ask and no beating around the bush. No small talk. Consider this business deal only.

See, I didn't read Randall's post before I posted but that's basically what I meant in a more simplified manner. LOL

Well, I would reword that to something doesn't imply you are replacing her. A woman scorned and all that...........

Maybe say "when I feel ready to move on I'd like to have that ring because I am not sure when i will be able to afford another one"...

I'd restore it but go with a different power plant. Even thought the 22r/22re are reliable and good motors they are under powered.

This is why I love you guys. I'm going to take all this in and hopefully say what I need to instead of what my brain is making me want to.

The video should have someone winching the ring out of her grasp.

Edit: Or her front door off.
