I'd say unless you are adding a amp with crossovers and all that cool stuff just add the 3 way and leave the tweeters. If you really want to know precisely how to handle it then I would ask @20tacoma17 , Chris knows his shit when it comes to vehicle audio.

 

I hope mine doesn't go over board. Unless they offer to pay off my truck, then I say bring it.

 

If you do a 3 way just unplug the tweeter but leave it mounted. Make sure the 3 way has an adjustable tweeter or all your highs will just be going into your leg.


If it were me I would go ahead and get a decent set of components. That way you will future proof yourself. Lots of good deals out there under 150

Seems like that kit even comes with an upgraded antenna so there is no need to buy the longer one.

Haha! That post must have been a year ago. My truck has had a "few" mods since then.

 

What's the benefit of the mike? The kit comes with an ear piece. Also, I suppose someone has the programming cord I could borrow? I'd assume that is a one and done deal no? The programming that is.

 

I think if you have a license most fire depts/maybe police stations can program it. They program a lot of scanners for people around me but that may also just be the small town hospitality too.

 

Seems like just yesterday to me Jerry. I'll just make it so I can replace my bumpers with some 4x4's when I go until I can afford real replacements.

I pulled an @inesshell yesterday. Noticed it while airing up. Probably has something to do with me going airborne once or twice....I’ll just weld it back and call It good.

 

Toyota: “Um...yeah...sir you’re missing half your bumper. Do you happen to know what caused it?”

Jerry: “I was just driving along and a damn big ass rock came out of nowhere and I guess it snagged.”

 

It’s just more convenient. I clip the radio on my pants pocket and the mic up near my mouth. That way I can just press the mic and talk without having to mess with the radio.
