That pic gets me every time! I don't know why, but it makes me

My wife and I saw a T4R yesterday with christmas lights on its roof rack. Gave me an idea! Then my wife told me I should put a christmas tree in the bed!

It’s Randy’s favorite pic. I need to show him at least once a quarter.

Maybe that is why it makes me laugh...because I instantly know it bothers others. Kinda like the naked taco flexing avatar one of the guys has!

I'm confused as hell with it too Skip but because that deal was so good I snatched one of those walkie talkies up. I am in the process already studying for the license. I found a place near me that is testing on the 15th next month. I talked to the dude last night and he said I should be ok by then. I will learn as I go along though after that. I'm a tech geek anyway so I think it will be fun. I might also pick up a set of common walkie talkies for the hell of it and for when that tech is needed. Or maybe just install a CB later.

:spending: Just ordered new HD Dakars along with an additional AAL for maximum carrying capacity. The Alcan were $750+~$50 for u bolts and ~ $130 for shipping. So a little over $900. More than I'm willing to spend right now, so dakars it is! @Rome604 will be buying my current ones when they come off the truck.

Dave, when is your lift coming in so we can get you lifted??

Should of just bit the bullet for chevy 63s :boink::anonymous:

You should be happy with that set up for a bit. I've seen a lot of the Dakars and Allpros just giving up the ghost. But that may be because there are just more out there than Deaver or Alcan with longer time of use.

Yeah maybe. I would definitely like 63s! Those may come later on. I wanna see how yours go first and how much of a PITA it is to measure for welding on the mounts and shock relocate.

It won't really be that hard but I've got some experience with that. Remind me next time to bring the pictures of the 59 buick invicta I put a 70s chevelle rear under and made it a tail dragger that was a lot more difficult than this will be.

Take a bunch of base measurements of where everything sits now and make reference marks with painters tape and a black sharpie also a plumb bob is good to have. Angle finder maybe. but it'll be pretty straight forward. The hardest part will be getting the rear shackle mount that may take a few attempts to get it where I want it and at the angle I want.

This. But, it's more doll hairs with 14" shocks and the archive or Ford shock towers. Cost effective for sure as the leaf springs should only run you $100 and you can get them basically anywhere but you have to do it right from the start or you end up changing shocks and relocation kits. That's the biggest PITA IMHO.

Should have gotten on the Archive BF deal. You and boogie need MOAR flex and he needs a rear HC.

For now I'll stick with what I've got. The biggest cost of 63s is the fab work, and I know at some point I'll have capabilities to do it myself, but not yet. One day when these eventually wear out! What I lack in flex I make up in rear locker. And what I lack there I make up for with my winch haha

I am going with new springs instead of sourcing worn out old springs and am going with ones for a 11-18 since they have about 1" more arch and are a 5/1 pack so I can play with spring rates going to take the 5th spring out to start.
Adding it up I'll be in it for ~1800 bucks or so.

Oh minus the $ I am getting for my current leafs, brake hoses, and b110s so you can drop quite a bit for that.

I am really curious to know what my brother paid for his conversion. I know the dude that did it and he is fair for what he charges. But since the dude is roughly 90 minutes away and the swap takes time and maths, he had to stay two days at the dude's house.

New 3/4 or 1 ton springs? Since we are technically light duty trucks, even a "worn" pair of leaf springs for a 3/4 or wonton should yield good results and are cheap; hence the appeal for the swap. But Randy is correct that is loses it's appeal when you have to factor in the fab work.

Wasn't there a thread on here that someone threw together bastard packs, tested and shared results?

Also, I wonder if Nathan aka Trail Toys will start making kits. I know you have the ruffstuff kit which is the most common choice, but when I was gathering parts for my 63 conversion before it was sold to my brother, he sold and sent me some beefy rear shackle hangers. I would happily support a kit from a TW vendor. I know he is offering his services for the kit at $500 a pop IIRC.
