I'm going down to FL for christmas, and there's a guy 1.5 hours from where I'll be that does 63 swaps in a day and charges $500 labor. He's done a bunch of them right now. I briefly considered driving the truck down and spending a day there, but again, more than I can spend right now. I'd rather spend that $500 on a nicer welder and do it myself.

1/2 ton springs. Still don't want worn out shit in my truck plus the older 3/4 and 1 ton trucks were only rated for what 1/2 ton and even some 1/4 ton trucks are rated for these days. Take my old 80s chevys I had they were rated for the same loads the tacoma can carry. I am a stickler about springs, there are also a lot of guys not just on TW but other forums that get used 63s for their rigs about the same weight as the tacoma and they don't last or hold up to the amount of extreme cycling offroading puts on them. I don't want to be in the same boat with chevy 63s as Randy is now. I think it was 98 where the 3/4 and 1 ton springs went to 3" widths and the 1/2 tons stayed at 2.5" It may of been earlier or later I can't remember off the top of my head. I've seen a lot of different make shift bastard packs from a lot of different foums. The reality is each truck is different and it gives you a base line and you still have to play with it. As far as I can find I am the only one utilizing a very new pack and not an older style with the smaller arch and less load capabilities. So I am kinda going to be a pioneer with this pack. There is cheap and then there is cheap for a custom made pack to these specs I'd be spending more than I am getting these brand new ones shipped so it is cheaper but not cheap in the fact I am using old worn out stuff.

I won't buy anything from Nathan. Nothing against his build.

Yeah and he doesn't set up the bumps correctly I said something about it and told one of his more recent swap recipients to raise that bump or you'll W your spring. The fab guy chimed in and said he knew what he was doing and it was right. Well on his wheeling trip in April he "W" his leafs.

Aren't the other two even harder? Do I need the other two for using the radio just to off road? All of this is very new and scary to me. Scary because I hate to fail.

Nah you only need the technicians license to use it off road. That’s the easy one.

If you PM me your email address I will send you the 400 question pool with the answers. Then you can study at your leisure. There are also Kindle books on Amazon for under 6 bucks. The PDF I have is small enough to put on your phone, but if you have a larger tablet or computer even better. I have it on my Galaxy S8+ and it is fine but I am also gonna put it on my Galaxy Tab (12.2") and then I can just sit on the couch a couple hours a night.
