Yeah, one of my buddies is in the hospital. He had his thumb ripped off over the weekend due to an accident while cutting down a tree in his yard. Just got back from the hospital checking up on him. It is a pretty gruesome injury, and could potentially affect his career because it is on his strong hand (primary weapon hand).

If it got through the sidewall of the coopers no tire would have kept it from happening. Tire is a relatively easy, but expensive, fix

Thanks man! The surgeon told him if he did anything else for a living, he would have just pulled the skin over the amputation and called it a day. But, because he is an officer and needs his thumb, the surgeon is trying to save it. Right now they have to bleed it every couple hours to make sure it keep profusion throughout it and won't know if it will take for sure for about 3 weeks, although if things go well through Wednesday, the chances he keeps it go up exponentially.

As far as I know, it just brings the post to the attention of the mods. I think it's a very handy feature! I'll "report" a post if it's in the wrong subforum and put in the comments that the OP would have better luck elsewhere, and it'll get moved. Or if someone has a question for the mods, I'll "report" it and ask them in the comments. I've done this a bunch and no one seems to have a problem with it.

No way Jose! Just gonna get another 255. Thank goodness I had a full sized spare. Full trip report and pics in a few minutes.

Had a great trip! Sleeping in the bed of the truck wasn't bad at all, and will get even better with a few tweaks I have in mind.
    IMG_1191.jpg

    Mmmm, breakfast

    IMG_1192.jpg

We couldn't find the trail that we were looking for, but stumbled across another one and just went with it. Some parts were a little harrier than we anticipated, but we took our time and everything was fine, for the most part. We were on a steep downhill with rocks everywhere, and then all of a sudden I heard hissing and immediately knew I got a flat. I stopped to assess the damage, and saw I had ripped a sidewall from one of the damn rocks!!

We hooked a strap to Davids truck, and put rocks in front of all the other tires to keep the truck from rolling forward. My trusty little bottle jack wasn't working too well on the incline though. We ended up taking 3 tire plugs, folding them in half and shoving them in the hole with a screwdriver. This allowed me to limp on for another 1/4 mile until we came across a flat spot with a big flat rock. The jack was then able to get the tire up and I threw on the spare and we were ready to rock! I already have a new tire on order that'll get here by the end of the week.

Here's our fix, but it's kind of hard to see in these pics
