Joe had a torn boot on his CV, so we replaced it with a Napa one and I brought the bad one home to reboot it since I had the tools and skill. Only took and hour and good as new!

Yeah, I used the incorrect tool to clamp them down. I've since gotten the correct tool so that won't happen again. I had to reboot my own axles a second time and used the correct tool, and no problems.

rebooting is the way to go man. It's quick and easy and much cheaper, and all OEM quality. It's just messy is all, but some gloves, rags and brake cleaner takes care of that. Rebooting this one only took me about an hour.

It's toyota part number 04438-04021 and that comes with the boots, grease, clamps, etc to service one CV axle. Just buy from your place of choosing.

found it on TPD.ca for 117$ but the part # is 0442804010 which is a little different. when i find ur P# on Amazon it says it wont fit my truck hahaha according to toyotapartsdirect.ca the P# you have is for Tacoma's from 95-2004 and mine is for 2005-2013.

    click on "what this fits"

Well I know for a fact it's right because I've ordered the part twice now, and Gunny is the one that gave me the part number.

Maybe it's a canadian toyota thing, but that seems unlikely.

The second one may be superceded by the first that happens a lot and unless you have access to Toyota's parts system it's hard to find that info on the interwebs sometimes

No, as far as I know they're shorter than ours. I think the 3rd gen 4runner and 1st gen tacoma are the same though.

yeah i found it cheaper on Amazon. genuine Toyota. its like 70 bucks.

on a side note, i have found that some of the US P# are different then the P#'s up here. came across that a few times in other threads where me and someone else found the same part on the same diagram but with different number. one was from .com and the other was .ca
