I know that the housing on mine and Brian's is different to allow for the locker, so didn't know i. Not questioning the techy guy at all. I didn't know your diff housing was larger. I know it is on the TRDOR and manual trans 3rd gens because they run a 8.75 rear diff. On all the other models from what I had read the diffs themselves were the same size as the 2nd gens, but that doesn't mean they didn't increase the size of the housing. Also I know our axle tube diameters across all the trucks are the same at 3.25". Kinda weird all the little idiosyncrasies that make the 2nd and 3rd gens almost identical yet make them different enough to be a PITA in cross parts compatibility.

That's why I thought it would fit robs truck. Since I've read we have the same ring gear, I assumed the entire axle assembly would be the same.

Right!!!!! Weirdness. Oh man putting that lift on the 3rd gen TRDOR that bigger diff would be an awesome upgrade

sure is... i keep forgetting how low the miles are because the exhaust leaks and heat sheild rattles so it sounds terrible even though it drives great :(

The bottom of the diaper at the lowest point would have to be about 1" or more lower for the mounting points on the axle tubes to mate up.

I'm going to explore other options however.

Hey @EatSleepTacos Randy, do you run your titanium 140 on a CO2 Argon mix or straight CO2? Also where do you normally get it at? Seems to be a couple of praxair and airgas places in my town. How much does a bottle run you?

I run a 25/75 mix and have a 60CF bottle. I get it from Roberts oxygen, but it’s kinda expensive. It’s $75 each time, and that’s with a discount. Reading the welding thread, other areas/companies are much cheaper. I haven’t tried straight CO2 and probably never will. I like the mix a lot.

Thanks. Good to know. I want to set up this machine right. Figured I'd ask the guy whos using the same one! My wife called today while I was at work "Hey what's that welder you want?" Me: uh why? "I just want to look..." Me: "Uh huh, here it is and here's a coupon. :D"

FYI the 20% off coupon this month doesn't have titanium in the fine print of excluded items!

Really!! And it doesn’t say welders either? That’s very surprising. Heck of a deal right there.

And you/she is sure it doesn’t say “welders” either? I mean I obviously hope not for your sake, but the coupons I’ve seen don’t exclude titanium, but they do exclude welders as a whole. That would be super sweet if you get 20% off though! I just don’t want any surprises for her when she shows up.

78 off with the 20% vs 40 off with the specific coupon. Either way not a whole lot of savings in the grand scheme.
