Thanks! Officer was grazed (they are speculating by a ricochet), he was treated and released on scene, wasn't even transported.

Yes sir....the crime scene covered about 35 city blocks down the main street through town and where it came to an end, there were shell casings across all six lanes of the road...he shot up the front a hotel, a passenger car that happened to get in his way, and there was at least one patrol car that took rounds. Not to mention all the business that had .223 rds tear through them as he shot indiscriminately as he when through town...luckily he was the only one that sustained serious injury.

Thanks! It ended the best way possible given the circumstances.

The video in the news story was from a civilian that got trapped in the chaos. I am sure there will be more body cam footage become available showing the officers perspectives on the driver side of the truck.

You wouldn't believe how oblivious the general public is in situations like that.

Me too! I would have crapped my pants if I had been the driver in the highlander. No where to go...trapped and an officer popping off rounds using my vehicle as concealment...potentially drawing fire from the suspect if the situation had gone differently.

Thanks! Everyone was very lucky it turned out the way it did. I have a couple coworkers who likely would not be here with us still if it went any differently.

 

I was a police officer in Atlanta for awhile. I'm glad everyone made it out relatively unharmed. I'm also hoping that all involved agencies do a debrief and learn from this incident. There's a lot to learn from that video. Glad you made it out safe brother.

Yeah, they will all get together separately and do debrief. We have ours tomorrow at 8:30 am. There are definitely things that could have been done differently/better.

My dad is a retired LEO with 30 years experience. He and I dissected the video pretty thoroughly this afternoon.

 

I was on scene, but not in the immediate area of the suspect as the gun fire was exchanged.

 

Can't imagine how crazy that'd be. An average day turns from 0 to 100 real quick.
