My thoughts exactly. Just going high clearance and calling it done. Don't need any of that gear hanging off back there.

:amen: I am definitely getting a swingout. If I ever want to be able to sleep in my short bed (I am 6' 5" tall, most days) I can't have the tire in my way. I already have plans to buy a tent enclosure that fits like a sock over the back of the truck with the tailgate down.

Ok here are my thoughts and even with the cap too and why I ditched mine. Weight savings. When I get to do a long distance trek like Swisha loop or out to Moab and CO there is plenty of storage in the bed. Plus if you set up storage right there will be no need for the swingout. You can carry extra fuel, spare(s), tools, gear all in the bed and cab. With the AC you can throw all your camping gear in the cab as well. I am definitely enjoying the loss of weight from ditching the cap and changing my plans to no swingout because of these reasons.

You gotta think that weight on the swingout is cantilevered off the springs thus actually acting like more weight in the bed directly above the springs. To me I think having a HC is enough weight hung out the ass end like that especially with the shorter Tacoma springs.

I will be making some sort of bed cage, roll bar, rack system that isn't too crazy but will incorporate some additional "hanging" storage or lashing points when I really load it down with stuff.

Got someone wanting to buy mine and order me whatever bumper I want.

There's also a local HC SOS for trade. Not a straight swap as some features like cutouts for rear lights but so far, there's hope! I didn't think there would be honestly.

Yeah. SOS is cool but it's pretty much a basic HC and I don't think we both have the same amount into it. I would be hard pressed if we actually could come to an agreement.

I ultimately want a HC w/dual swing-out from Mobtown. I need as much help looking cool as possible. Malls are brutal these days.

Plus I figured I'd run helium in the spare and unleaded fuel in the jerry cans. Should actually add some lift in the rear. :bananadance:
