It depends on the person and their use for the truck. I’m super happy with 4.88 and 35s right now because it’s not my daily driver. On the highway, I can’t go faster than 70/71 but I’m ok with that. If you do any amount of high driving regularly then I would go with 4.56 (only if you’re an manual too). If you’re an auto then go with 4.88. The two trannies are geared differently.

 

Oh that's right you got a manual. In research mode, so I am trying to query folks more experienced than me. I got an automatic and it is my daily driver. So 4.88 is still what I am leaning towards, at least at this early point in my research. Haven't even called ECGS yet.

 

Only two pics I grabbed today. She’s almost done! All that’s left is flex seal, and then put her back together. Aka battery, interior, grease all the suspension components, etc. Should be all buttoned up tomorrow.

Looks good @EatSleepTacos. Maybe once I get over how much time I spent on my 63 swap, I'll feel like doing this (good thing I don't have 35s yet because that's how long it'll be). Last time I committed to a weekend project, it literally lasted the whole 3 day weekend plus some more time in to the next week.

 

I've already had stock split to Wabtech. This is when I knew it was RIP.

 

That’s why I love not having my truck as a daily driver. I can take a little more time in it if needed. Still a lot of work though. I probably have 15 hours into it at this point.

 

Once the wife and I buy a new house and I get my shop space, I'll be able to keep this as a toy and buy a cheap daily. Just no room to store the truck when I'm in the middle of big projects at the moment without disrupting everyday life. Gotta keep the wife happy.

What did you have to do on the inside?

 

Pull back all the wiring in the kick panel so I didn’t cut it up.

I’ll have to modify the trim panel a little bit too to fit over the new sheet metal. I will end up losing a little foot room.

Nice! You're off roading shoes don't have thick soles anyway so..........

 

Betty white is done and back on her feet. Also greased the entire front end, to include dropping the lcas and greasing the white line bushings (they needed it already). Front end is smoooooth.
