Go for it. It doesn't look bad and you are patient and detail oriented enough to make it look like an oem job.

I was trying to crop on a black softopper but paint wasn't cooperating. This is the best I could do.......

One step at a time. First I need to get betty white back on all fours. Then sell the bed rack. After that, I can really decide if I want to do this.

If he bobs the bed, then he is required by Federal statute to put the toob darwz back on.

    If not, we mutiny....again.

I can't remember. Do 2nd gen racks and softoppers fit 3rd gens?

Kinda sorta and sometimes. There's very minor differences and certain nuances with what does and doesn't fit. I know my rack fits a third gen, and I'm pretty certain the topper does too. The only potential difference is the rear window bar, which can be purchased separately from ST.

Wait, really? In the rack or the softopper? Or both? Right now I have the rack listed for $800 and include the fuelpax.

Kinda. I want to switch from a tonneau to a softopper and I will eventually get a RTT, so I'm thinking about getting a rack now.

I do have a short bed, though. I don't know which you have.

oooooooo RIP. I have a longbed.

The softopper is awesome though. So much more dry storage than a tonneau

Is it possible to raise the rear spring mounts? I dig the idea, and the look is bad ass except for that profile shot in that last photo. It would be awesome if you could move them all the way up. What's the option to remove them completely?

    Otherwise go for it.

Another option would be to make your own roll bar and add angled bars that tie to the rear corners. From there, a custom canvas bimini top would look good and provide some protection from the elements. The bars would add support. Then you wouldn't need a tailgate.

    Another option is a flatbed.

The only sorta option to that is a shackle flip. It's a different kind of rear leaf hanger, but I don't want to switch to that.

Link the rear and install coilovers, kinda like a 4runner. That's thousands of dollars though and a lot of work.

With my Archive hammer hangers there now, they're very strong and I've already hit them before, so it's no concern for me.

All that has crossed my mind, but it'll be more expensive, heavier, and a bit much for my taste. If I do this well, it'll be seen and people will think "Wait a second, something is off on this truck but I'm not sure what. Something is different." It'll look like a funky proportioned bed from the factory. That would be my goal anyways.
