Yep crossed paths with him today while I was at the shop but never caught his name. I stayed the night at Joes last night to break up the drive while wheeling. Went to the shop this morning to grab my metal for my welding table and that’s when I saw him.

Ah Pat and I ran that up hill last time we were there. It was annoying AF  And I'm not saying replace alll your studs like some people do, just the bottom two. Seen it work a bunch already so I don't see it leaking. I'd probably use metric flange head bolts. I really need to do mine but I've been to lazy to pull the third. Last time I changed the oil I just pumped it out.

I was laying under my axle yesterday and I think that’s what I’ll do. I’ll work up the motivation to do it eventually. Or at least before the next trip. For now I need a break from wrenching on the truck haha

edit: found some copper crush washers that’ll fit it on McMaster Carr. I’ll give those a try. Will make me feel better

    Too many to list.
This is what happens when I have too much time on mah hands.
Back yard tent that broke a year ago and saved for spare parts for the new one. The base is solid but the cross members are weak af. I'm going hybrid it with aluminum bars.

Haha the Achilles heel strikes again. Yup best thing todo is pull the shaft and 3rd replace the studs with allen head bolts, better clamping force and wont pull out preventing future leaks. And then thread the drain plug from the inside and weld that bad boy up and grind the bottom smooth. Two bottom bolt drain method works well and what alot of custom housing designers use as well.

So you threaded the drain plug in backwards and then welded it?

Yeah, that way it fills the gap. @cynicalrider might have my post saved where I snapped a few pics of inside the diff and the allen head bolts

I'm pretty sure I saw it when I was creeping in his thread. Thanks, I'll be following suit. This happened to another friend of mine but he didn't catch it until he got on the highway and his rear end was making all sorts of noise. Absolutely cooked his 3rd. I really don't want that happening.

So on my plastic bed rails you can see a seam where I made the cut, as sorta seen here.

I'm going to ditch those and build some replacements out of steel. Similar to the KBvoodoo ones, just custom for stubbybob.

Then the only visible seam will be on the walls of the bed. I had the idea to cover those up with some molle panels, which may eventually happen.

you could always plastic weld the two halves together with some metal mesh reinforcement.

I was going to say the same thing. Randy, if you decide to go that way let me know. I have a nice plastic welder you can borrow.

Not quite. Where the two halves join are different widths, about a 1/2" difference. That's why you can see that obvious lip on the outside in the picture above. I tried epoxying them back together with a backing plate but it just didn't work out. Figured this will be yet another fun project and totally seamless.
