My rigid chase light is a running light and brake light. Passed inspection but my guy isn't that strict.

Damn it Randy...seeing all your fab work and CLEARANCE GAINS, I know I won't get to that place anytime in this lifetime.
So I took the easy route and swapped stock bumper for a trimmed bumper trim and SSO Slimline + Stage 2 bumper, gotta still put on the C4 bumper reinforcement bracket, new fender clips and the 3m double sided tape...thought about running w/o the grey trim and filling the holes, but I heard they don't make that smooth bed liner in silver sky metallic!!!

    20200713_073537~2.jpg

Hope y'alls weekend is going well!
Now if I can just get my suspension here so I can go run the truck through some rocks, dirt/mud, and mountain views!!
Damn it man, stop stealing my skillets!!!! I haven't learned any of these Lair fab skills yet...but have learned I normally shouldn't be around any powerful tools around the Taco without supervision or torque specs:D

I try to abide as much as possible Dave so I wondered about this too. I wonder if the distinction is true brake vs 3rd brake? I wonder who I can ask here. The law or a inspection station?

I'd like to be as visible as possible and keeping people wondering if I'm breaking dosen't bother me at all if it keeps them off my ass.

I suppose the tailgate mounted lights that operate the same way are a whole other animal.

A quick Google search shows that the Maryland Supreme Court found that police can stop you and ticket you for your 3rd brake light not functioning....the question is if you can be ticketed for it not functioning as designed by vehicle manufacturers.

I'd encourage you to not even worry about that question. The 3rd brake light is a unique safety light and it should be off when your brakes are not applied. It's this way on almost all vehicles. The 3rd brake light will help you avoid being rear-ended. There is no advantage to having your 3rd brake light act as a running light...but there is potentially a huge disadvantage.

You should keep an axle nut threaded on your spare. Taking the nut off should clean up the threads if they are a little messed up.

That’s the plan from now on. I have an auto zone axle in, and that will become the new spare. I’ll leave the nut on, and some pvc pipe as well. And I’ll buy two new axles to put on there from Napa.

Oh yeah I cut open the bum axle, gross.

I plan on cutting the tips off with an angle grinder and keeping them in the truck. That way I’ll have a backup to my backup. Worst case, I can put one side in the diff, one side in the wheel hub, and I can at least drive home.

So, just in case I can make it August, no one else broke and yours only broke because of preexisting conditions.

I have a spare but would rather know if I need to load the kitchen sink.

Correct, mine broke purely due to my own negligence. Potts is great because there’s the main trail, and optional obstacles. There’s only a few places that are difficult that you have to do but the rest are optional.

So far 100% of invites have resulted in a no. Would you like to go to Potts august 1st? Camping is a necessity because we’ll be camping halfway through the trail.

Ohhhh. It is my birthday, so a trip would be good. But camping is for the homeless. Is there anywhere i can get served warm cookies, like at a doubletree?

There’s not. The trailhead is 30 minutes away from the highway, and we plan on stopping mid trail. That’s why I wanted to make that clear since you’re not a camper so I wasn’t sure if you did sometimes.

Well I'm an August birthday, but I camp, don't feel I'm ready/mod'd enough to feel comfy on Potts.

Day trip mid to late August would be awesome, especially once I get these Elkas in and installed...
