I keep forgetting to get an extra 10mm hex for the truck tools. Just ordered one...Good reminder.

I’ve slowly been whittling them down to get to the current set up. I have a bunch of spare parts and fluids in a separate tote but actual tools, this should be solid. Really I just wanted them in a waterproof case so I can keep them in the bed. I don’t want them crushing my skull in an accident.

I have the smaller size rigid box from HD, it just allows me to throw too much crap in it. It is pretty organized though, which is nice. Wedge it between the front and back seats most of the time and just throw it in the back if need be.

keep tools and some spare nuts / bolts in it.

No, but I’m also not throwing knives into my spare parts bin either lol

honestly the thought has never even occurred to me to protect the boots in any way. They’re pretty thick so I’m not too worried about something in there tearing them.

Had a good truck day today. Changed the air filter, oil, transferred my hood struts over, and fixed this annoying heat shield rattle. My truck sounded like it was falling apart but not anymore.

 

Some additions to the "oh shit" tool selection:

-wire stripper/crimper
-butt connectors/terminals
-mechanics wire
-Allen keys or sockets

 

Allen sockets are a must, I’ve got some too. I used to carry some basic electrical stuff but I’ve yet to use it (knock on wood). That’s why I stopped.

 

I forgot to add a test light or logic probe and some fuses....

Electrical to me is one of those things that doesn't give much, if any, warning before it fails. That's definitely the one thing I want to prepare for.

Mechanics wire is a must. Better than zipties and no daisy chaining.

Just came back from Harbor Freight and got half the stuff I wanted. I need to see what I already have. I've typically put throw-away tools in my truck and I don't really know what I have. I also opted for a huge tool roll instead of the case. I stood in Harbor Freight for 30 minutes trying to make a decision. They also had a cheaper case that was the same size, but not waterproof and stuff. Had slots and dividers for organization though. And half the price. All in case anyone else is doing some shopping.

 

I decided to change my spark plugs today too since I was a little overdue. 50k on these but they really don’t look too bad. Gap was around the .045 mark and I gap them to .040 when installing.
