I thought you were team ultragauge, does the scangauge have anything fancier you're after?

 

No, it’s just more readily available. I want to install the trans cooler Sunday and need a way to monitor the temp. I was gonna put my UG from Betty into the tundra, but I have the EM and I need the MX to program custom PIDs.

I used to have a scangauge and the only pro’s to it is that the website looks like it was made this century and the fact you can unplug the wire from the main unit. This allows easier routing of wires. Other than that, UG all the way.

How difficult is it to program? I'm gonna go ultragauge eventually.

 

Took me like 10 min to program, verify it worked, and mount it. Very easy if you know what codes to use.

Edit: never mind, you asked about UG. No idea on that, never programmed one.

My edit was too slow. I have no idea about programming an UG, I didn’t have to add anything to monitor what I wanted in Betty. And I just put a scangauge in the tundra today. Programming that was easy.

 

Did that tundra have an actual trans dipstick or was adding the extra fluid a pain in the ass??

 

It’s similar to second gens afaik, or maybe the third gens? Fill through the fill plug, then in a very specific temp range, pop out the level plug and let some drain out until it reaches appropriate level.

 

Did you not add any with the new cooler??

 

I will. Add 1.5 quarts then drain off the excess with the aforementioned procedure.

First impressions??

 

That the rack isn’t worth the cost or effort. We’ll see though once I get more seat time, especially off-road.
