So it became very obvious at @3pooches driving behind a few other 3rd gens running stock and meso total tails just how big of a difference having the full "C" lighting up as the brake taillights compared to the lower half only...and I've always wondered why USDOT or NHTSB (or whatever alphabet soup acronym) didn't/hasn't made amber rear turn signals as the standard/required in the US...

These suckers are definitely bright as hell! The video doesn’t fully capture it but those poor souls behind me when I’m braking. VLED makes a tacoma kit too

 

There are a ton of vehicle standards that exist overseas that are just plain smart. Who knows if they'll ever make it over? It's pretty dumb if you ask me. It adds cost to vehicle production in making parts for each market. Good example of this is the current Mustang's taillights. The sequential and all red features of them are illegal overseas. Ford had to make a set with an amber center section. Ever heard of aspherical mirrors? They freaking rock, but not legal here. On and on....

That's part of why I love LED, it's much crisper and nicer looking. And apparently, it's been proven that amber turn signals are more effective than red in terms of rear-facing.
