That's ideally what I would love to do. Invite him out wheeling so I can see the truck in action as well as how he uses the truck so I can get an idea of how he's treated this thing. It's not entirely feasible though because the closest place is a good few hours from him. I did scroll through every post on his IG so I do have some sense of the truck I'm dealing with.

This is a great calculator for playing around with for anything gear related. You select your transmission, transfer case, axle ratio and tire size and it gives you all sorts of good info. Your speed at any given RPM, your RPM's at any given speed, your final drive ratios, etc.

I'm playing around with it to compare how the new truck on 40s would feel like compared to my current setup. I'm currently over geared a bit because I wanted to leave the option open for 37s. So compared to what I have now, the 40s won't be geared quite as low, but overall it's still geared lower than a stock tacoma. It'll take a little adjustment but that's not difficult and just means I have an excuse to get that crawl box.

If you have a 6 speed, you have an RA60F. If you have an auto, it's the A750F. For transfer case, you select "Toyota Tacoma and FJ". For underdrive, select "None".

Whew, I tried to educate myself on 3 and 4 link setups so I have some idea of what I'm looking at when I go to check out the other truck. The more I learned, the less confident I was in someone else's ability to set it all up correctly. I don't know this guy or this truck and I'm simply not educated enough to buy this knowing it's a smart purchase. I think I'll just stick with trusty Betty White.

I thought I was seeing things with your IG story about selling Betty White the other day, I couldn't believe it. Been following along since my brother sent me one of your posts on Reddit a few years ago. Heck I think your TW profile led me to that entertaining/informative/interesting JD Fab thread here. Anyways, don't mean to "toot your horn", but it's been awesome following along. Betty White's truly one of a kind in my eyes.

Thank you for the kind words! I was definitely getting ahead of myself but it ultimately worked out because it sparked some conversations with others who are smarter than me and they gave me some good advice on trucks with links. Between that and my research it was enough to hit the brakes and realize it's not a smart move. If anything I'll link the rear of betty white eventually. I would be kicking myself for all eternity if I sell Betty white and buy a truck that I need to fix.

Ditto. Don't have his number. I imagine a lot of 420's and 69's though

With the way OP is thinking, who knows. Probably a new number as well though since he wants to change up on us.

You might ask around in the LT threads. Some of those guys are running links and DIY'd in their garages. There are also calculators out there to find the right numbers.

The calculators were part of why I realized this wasn’t a good idea. In order to plug numbers into the calculator for an accurate representation, I would need a lot more knowledge as well as the truck for at least a full day to make sure everything was kosher.

Did some more poking around after a thread popped up on here a few weeks ago and I was able to determine the IA4 connector is blue...made the search much easier and I found it! It is smoked on one side and pretty green/crusty on the other. When I have more time I might try to repair it the correct way since I am probably keeping the truck long term to give to my oldest in 7 years when he starts driving. Will try to de-pin the connectors and solder in a new piece of wire or worst case I did find the part numbers for a new connector and repair terminals and will just replace the entire thing.

You guys see how confusing OP has made this dumpster fire? He didn’t clarify if hot dog or pickle, & then just vanished
