Actually yes. Exhaust is hard to weld. Yours look decent. Be proud.

Condensation weep holes. Nothing to see here.

I was wondering about that as I was in the planning process. I made the exit tube level/angled slightly down so moisture could drain out but it’s obviously not the lowest point in the system. Even the factory exhaust with the hump over the axle prevents total drainage. I guess it’s just accepted there will be moisture pools in there to some degree.

Usually a weep hole in the muffler. I'd assume the pressure just pushes it there and it drains away.

I always assumed once the exhaust was hot that the moisture just evaporated.

Maybe in a normal vehicle but Betty isn’t normal I guess. As she idles, moisture continues to exit the exhaust. She used to have a dump and if left there to idle, the ground would be a little wet after awhile.

Maybe normal driving is different, that’s just the experience that comes to mind. I had to idle her on the trailer for over an hour so my fridge wouldn’t cut off and it was wet where the exhaust was dumping.

I'd be interested to see if yours moves like mine does as the exhaust system heats up, especially since your mount is about as far as mine is away from the tip. I also wonder if mine moves as much as it does since the pipe is connected to the muffler with a band clamp and not welded on. If I used a v-band setup and welded it on maybe it wouldn't move? The shit moving around after it heats up definitely threw me for a loop since I spent SO MUCH time trying to center it in the bezel. Now when it heats up it pushes on the left side of the bezel, which I'm good with as long as it doesn't rattle IMO.

In for this. I had a Mustang with aftermarket exhaust on it. When it got hot it would rattle against the rear sway bar. It was awesome.

I'll be curious as well, I hope not. I wonder if it would work out to weld one of his single bolt mounts to the inside of the sheet metal, right under the tip. Or instead of weld, JB weld something in there right to the tip so the welding doesn't cook the exterior paint. I assume the inherent flex of the beside would act as its own bushing. Hmmmmmmm

IIRC after talking with the Dirt Skum guy too he told me to bias the tip towards the front to counteract this affect a little.

I guess when I first installed it (before his mount) i was biased way in the back:

    And these days:

    IMG_0141.HEIC.jpg

Between smashing around on the trail, mobbing the truck and eventually catching the exhaust on rocks it's going to get jacked up from where you originally put it so don't kill yourself over it like I did. I'll tell you what @malburg114 told me, as long as it isn't rattling, send it

That's a fair point. I hope I don't smash this exhaust too much because I was able to get it all up above the frame rails, barely. This is one of those projects where I'll be hyper critical of it because I'm so close to it but once I put some miles on it I won't care nearly as much.

Scrap what you got and go for the oval cut-out.

That dual one is next level cool. But $200+ more than the tip and bezel I am running. Is it really worth that much more for a rock crawler? :p

Hell no, and neither was the dirt skum dual tip for me, that's why I went fairly basic. Those tips are cool though.
