The real answer is that we’re moving to AZ in a few months and getting a dirt bike is a guarantee. Working on Betty white isn’t nearly as fun anymore and selling her would allow me a dirt bike and all the goodies and still have plenty of money leftover. Lower overall cost to have more fun out in the desert.

Giving up wheeling? Seems like a missed opportunity if you’re heading for AZ. Or since your truck is already LT’d, turn it into a go fast build like the rest of us lol.

 

More like trading one form of off-road motor sports for another form. I grew up riding dirt bikes and miss it every day. I transitioned to crawling here because that’s all there is but I prefer going fast.

Your coming to AZ with a already LT truck that you can adjust with just a few things.

 

The dollar to capability ratio of a dirt bike just cannot be beat when it comes to going fast. I would have to pour thousands of dollars and hours into Betty to get it remotely close and I just don’t want to.

 

Where in AZ? That's close enough I might actually be able to meet you some day! Maybe borrow a trailer and get the SxS out of the garage to to run around the desert!

 

Oh im sure the $ is better. Still plenty of dirt bikes rolling around up here too.
Which part of AZ?

 

My wife is the same way. That's is why she didn't like the SxS. We have been shopping for a Honda CRF 150R Expert for her, so she can ride the bike and the 3 kids can pile in the Teryx4 with me and not need a bench seat.

Easier to kill yourself on a dirtbike than in Betty though. Plus George can ride shotgun!

 

Depends on how you look at it. Again, I’ve got maybe 7-8 years of riding experience and was very good about staying in my limitations. Whereas an atv, sxs or an improperly built LT truck can give you a false sense of security and then you really get hurt.

I have had a bunch of fun up in the mountains on the service roads with my old DRZ. Been looking for the last year plus in getting another similar bike because it has to be plated (license plate) to ride up there. Get a group of guys and ride all day on some open stretch or stuff like flag pole. Damn good time sliding around a hairpin, tree infested mountain turn without knowing whats on the other side. Sometimes nothing, other times a vehicle coming at you. There is still a trail up there that we did and I cannot for the life of me find it on a map. This is why I want another bike, to get out and find it again. Was cool zipping along on top of a ridge line that dropped off on both sides.
