That's part of the appeal of selling. I have a (IMO) tastefully modded truck that won't have any problems fetching $45k in a private sale, leaving me with $27k of positive equity in the truck.

I see a Rivian in your future :stirthepot:

Money wise it makes sense to sell the Tundra. But like Betty White, be sure you are selling for the right reasons.

I haven't even had the Tundra two years yet, I'll hit that milestone around August. I don't have quite as strong a connection to it by any means. Honestly, if I didn't need the truck to tow my wife's car cross country, I probably would have impulse sold it by now.

So let’s get this straight. You’re keeping the truck/trailer to tow another car across the country. Why not just drive her car across the country? You will save on gas and bring along less ‘baggage’ (metaphorically).

Only downside is the Tundra will probably sell for more in AZ.

She's flying cross country so I have two vehicles and a trailer to move. I could sell my trailer now, truck right before I move, drive her van and then buy myself a truck when I get there and save about $600 on gas, but it's logistically stressful. Plus doing it this way, I can carry more household goods in the van on the trailer. We'll be without our stuff for about three weeks, so the more stuff we can keep behind and move ourselves, the better.

Not sure how much of a planner you are, but there are other angles. Does AZ provide a tax credit on traded in vehicles? Would it make sense to pull a u-haul with the van?

My personal method of cross country travel is light with the vehicle. What fits in the car goes. Pulling a trailer is not something I have done. And with a Taco, yeah…

That was a consideration as well, I've brainstormed quite a few options. Though the minivan can tow 3,500 lbs, it doesn't have a hitch installed. I'm not too stressed about towing cross country as I've towed betty white on the highway for 7+ hours before to go wheeling. It just takes a little more thought about where you get gas and where you stay for the night so it can accommodate a truck and trailer.

With my dog in the backseat, but yes. I plan to hit the road that Tuesday afternoon and cover as much ground as I can and aim to be there by Friday evening. I should be able to put in 10-12 hour days, I've done it before. It's 35 hours of driving on paper.

edit: with the 38 gallon tank I can go about 300 miles between fill ups while towing, so if my bladder and legs can handle it then I'll have minimal stops throughout the day. Generally I stop every two hours though.

Removing a swing out on your bumper and bobbing a bed causes quite a snowball effect...

Went from one end of the spectrum to the complete other, that's for sure.

Just buy another minivan. Whatever happened to the “man vans” that Dodge was pushing for a while.

Honestly, the minivan was just as much for me as it was for my wife. I fucking love that thing. The sliding doors are MONEY when loading a kid into a car seat in a parking spot.
