@EatSleepTacos how are things in AZ? Getting settled in? It is finally getting hot here, so I'd imagine it is miserable there! Lol

Well last night I got the “welcome to Arizona AC failure”. Someone came by and fixed it today, seized fan motor.

Other than that it’s been going well. House is finally starting to get where we like it. Wife started work on Friday, George goes back to daycare next week, so we’ll finally get back into a routine.

That's funny. I had the same thing happen to me when I moved there.

She’s an attending now, has been for a year. She graduated residency mid 2022 and did an additional year at the hospital as chief resident. This will be her first duty station outside of the training hospital though, where she’s one of two pediatric attendings, versus 20ish.

Yeah big change I’m sure. This is a bigger teaching institution as well or smaller community hospital setting? I have a close friend in residency now who’s starting PGY3 as chief resident and then will be station for the military after completion

It’s definitely smaller. As of right now, they don’t even have a pediatrician, only a nurse practitioner. A lot of the patients are just seen out in town. There’s no ER on the base and there is no nursery for her to work on, so it’ll be a Monday through Friday gig, only seeing clinic patients.

Oh nice. Hopefully that’s a nice schedule change then. I know that can be a real challenge. I’m sure she will stay busy now.

The AC blower was acting out & I replaced it with a used OEM unit. This 100°+ weather is no joke

Have you gotten the windshield done, or ever experienced a windshield done in ceramic? I never did until I got here, and goodness, it’s a necessity. Makes such a big difference.

80% on the truck and 70% on the minivan. 70% is much better, the 80% almost has a blue hue to it. 70% is as if it’s not even there. I would have gone 50% but didn’t want any issues when driving onto the Air Force base.

I had my windshield done on my truck up here in Flagstaff.. I think its 80% or something. Look, it made enough difference I dont have to stress about putting on my sunglasses all the time driving it.
I know if you want to get darker, you can with a prescription from a doctor. I think? Idk. Dont quote me on that. @snowsk8air2 might know more on that.

Where it really shines is heat rejection. I had the truck done before coming here so I could get a direct comparison between the truck and minivan in the az sun. In the van, driving into the sun, it was like an oven with it beating on you through the windshield. Now, you don’t even feel it. Pretty crazy. I would like to get my front windows darker but it’s not worth the cost, so I’ll live with 35%.

I had them lighten the front to I think 35% or so. At 20% it was to dark for these old eyes

Yeah we did 80% on the windshield and 35 on the front 2. I never knew about good tint until my last job and ceramics are amazing. 70 on my truck windshield and then 35 all around is perfect. Still decent visibility out the sides at night for driving through the woods at very slow speeds
