I did get my hitch carrier setup today. I assembled it, added grip tape, and some brake lights on a 4 pin connector. Probably going to have to add airbags to the truck but at least it’s easy with the linked and coil rear. It’s basically just a bladder you shove in the coils.

Just got a quote for my Tundra today. For ceramic tint it will be $369 for side and rear windows and $279 for the windshield.

That’s solid. Do you know what film they’re using? I like to compare numbers so I know I’m getting my moneys worth. Kinda hard to see but if you search “suntek CIR specs” it’s the first result.

Reason I started doing this is my tint shop in VA uses maxpro film and when comparing the heat rejection numbers to other films, it’s pretty shitty. I didn’t know what film they were using or why it mattered until after the fact. The price was good, but now I want to know what film goes on beforehand so I know exactly what getting. Suntek and xpel were the two options I decided on for the 4R, both excellent films.

This is the film they use. Same stuff I had put in my Taco.

Too bad the slot wasn't bigger. That dash has so much dead space it's rough on the eyes. Looks like you downsized a screen if I had never seen the factory dash.

Which line of film are you going to pick?

Agreed. That’s why I was torn between this and the floating headunit.

Floating looks terrible. Wonder if there are any custom bezels that'd fit one of the ones with the screen that's wider than the double din hole so rather than floating it looks factory.

If I really wanted to I could have retrofit a newer HU that has CarPlay and a larger screen, but it would be another few hundred bucks. Or I could have retrofit CarPlay into the existing headunit but the screen would be tiny af. No super great options unfortunately.

Pinnacle is what I had done on the Taco and I have been very happy with it. Think I should go up to the Stratos?

Not at all, pinnacle has great numbers, comparable to the CIR I have on mine. Going to go 50 on the windshield? That’s what I have.

edit: but I don’t know if I would want it this dark anywhere that has rain or other inclement weather because I would worry it would reduce visibility too much. Could go stratos 70 on the windshield and pinnacle on the sides.

My old job we were a llumar dealer and pinnacle was definitely the best bang for the buck. Stratos you got 3-7% more heat rejection depending on darkness and really just for people that wanted the best of the best. Or that got employee discount :D. But once you go ceramic you’ll never go back. We have stratos on everything we own but if I had to pay full price I would go pinnacle. And always get the windshield done in stratos 70.

Going 35% on driver and passenger Front as that is the legal limit here, and probably 20% on the rear over the existing tint (can go as dark as I want, no laws for the rear windows, but don't want to have trouble seeing at night), and either 50% or 70% on the windshield..leaning 70%

35 front 20 rear is exactly what I had on the tundra and I liked it. If you’re worried about the legality of it and being too dark, definitely go 70 for the front. 50 is fairly obvious that the windshield is tinted, 70 is not.

I’m also a big eyebrow fan at the top of the windshield. I get it even with the dots around the rear view mirror, which is about an inch below the AS1 line. Perfect at reducing glare in the afternoon when the sun is lower but also not remotely covering your normal field of view while driving. Only thing it covers is the traffic lights when you’re the first car stopped at it. You can still see the lights through it though.
