weird hahaha why such a drastic change in colour?

let me know cuz I'm curious lol fine metal shavings from wear? I wonder if they coat the gears with some sort or oil, like a rust inhibitor which reacts with the gear oil causing the colour change

yeah I kinda figured haha urs was an odd ball colour coming out as well I take it? u have any insight as to why the drastic change in colour?

 

thats what ive read with one tw post with an arb, there are not enough talks about new gear initial oil changes. But generally when its white, its water contamination......and i have done none of that

yeah I have heard of that for sure, white being the cause of water contamination, but most of what I have seen was still brown with just milkyness in it haha never seen full blown colour changes before haha very interesting, assuming its not bad!

 

The new gear coating? I am unsure

 

that's what I'm leaning towards, something along those lines anyways haha I'm on google looking for answers, most answers are just assumptions saying it could be a white lithium grease applied during the manufacturing process. I'm guessing a rust inhibitor so they aren't all rusty when u get it in the mail haha I know the heat exchangers in furnaces get coated with it so when we first start a furnace it usually smokes out the house haha

 

Going to pull it in a bit

 

i just run them with tongs. i dont mind the extra seasoning between smokes lol

 

just make sure you wrap the water pan with foil lol, otherwise it will get a nasty clean up the next time you add your liquid.
