    I just hope its comfortable.

I already know the 2.4T is awesome, I'm not expecting a rocket ship, but its a great engine for the heavy highlanders so far.

Of course its complicated. The 3.5 is way more complicated than most even know.

3G can bugger off. 4th gen is welcome in my shop.

There’s more to it than the maximum

I think it boils down to longevity, not performance. Sure, the new turbo engine may feel faster but it won't have the longevity of a naturally aspirated engine. It depends on the wants and needs of the perspective buyer which engine is a better fit. Only time will tell how reliable the new engines are in the long term.

I’ll take the low end torque but prefer waiting a couple of years to get the kinks out.

my 23 is still brand new. I’ll be due for a new one in 2-3 years. AMD said in a previous video the 2.4 is basically the same as the 2.5 in the new Camrys, and that’s been a fantastic motor. My 2019 Camry has been my favorite vehicle yet; zero issues in 5 years.

That comment was because he said the V6 had all the low end torque, and the exact opposite was true. That and the 30mpgs blow any credibility he had (which is very little) out the window. It’s not a proven platform yet, but so far so good in the Highlander.

If I was towing a lot I would trade my V6 for something that could actually tow.

The auto manufacturers want to meet CAFE standards so they offer hybrid, turbos, start/stop, cylinder deactivation and 10 speed transmissions that constantly try to get into the highest gear. The owner gets 2 or 3 mpg more and saves a few hundred bucks.

Right about the time the vehicle goes out of warranty one of these complicated systems will probably give trouble and the cost of repair will be several times the money you saved on fuel.

For reliability nothing beats displacement and a simple throttle body fuel injection system.

12k of my 2020’s 30k miles have been towing a 5k trailer. I would love to have all that power low down. I’m at 63mph in 5th around 1300rpm 85% of a trip and average 11.5mpg over those 12k miles.

Not towing <70mph I get 24mpg easy, both ways.

Maybe it’s just his HEAVY Puerto Rican accent and I didn’t hear him correctly but I think he said 17mpg. I’m fairly certain he has a turbo kit on it, and maybe some other things done to it. It leaves me in his rear view with my v6 though I’ll tell you that

    West is best !
    Vehicle:
    2024 Tundra Terra (terror) Pro
PPF Front grill, bumpers and headlights.
Expert on Toyota ... wish Toyota would just go to 5k changes on the new motors !

Loved my 2016 Platinum with the V8 and yet have to admit this new truck/engine is better ....just glides along in low rpm with plenty of pep if needed. Will have to wait on longevity but feels like an upgrade on everything.

Agree .... would still probably avoid the first year or so, as the tundra had a few bugs to work out. (mainly small things like window/door seal fitment issues, seat side panels needing reinforcement ect..) Later 23/24 models showing much less issues already.
