    This reminded me, for our sons 3rd birthday I put 2 boston butts on our smoker around midnight. Hung them from small meat hooks like I always do. We have a pit barrel smoker, put charcoal in the bottom and meat at top. It's usually delicious!

    I went out the next morning (Saturday) at 6:30 and it was smoking more than it should have been. I took the lid off, the meat was gone. Once the smoke cleared I saw the 2 butts in the charcoal on fire and black as black gets.

    I got my welding gloves but couldn't get them out with all the smoke in my face so I grabbed my next available resource.....the pitchfork with goat poop/hay on it. I got them out and laid them on the ground and panic set in.

    We have 10-20 people coming to eat BBQ in less than 5 hours and we have no meat to feed them. I call my wife who is in the house, she comes out and says "can we save them?" I said I ran a poop pitch fork through them, NOPE.

    So we decide Sams club opens at 7, I can be there at 7 and get 2 things of pulled pork BBQ already cooked we just have to heat it. CHECK

    Everyone who came was bragging about how good the BBQ was and the smell of the shop/sheds had the smell from where the boston butts smoked all night. I fessed up and told everyone what happened :rofl::rofl::rofl:

    Welp, I had a slice for lunch and it was delish!! I got maybe three pounds of meat from a 5.5 lb rack.
    Next time I will increase the temp maybe 15°-20° as I prefer a bit more fat rendered out of the meat.
