The sports definitely have sharper cut offs, they meet the more modern tight F3 spec whereas the Pros do not, they meet the older F fog spec. Keep in mind the BD wide cornering lights are in no way a fog light and don't have cut offs, they will emit drastically more light above the horizon than the SS3 Pros. Even Baja's low output SAE lights emit more light above the horizon than the Pros. So you will see a huge improvement over what you are running now either way. I haven't yet had the opportunity to run the Pros in the snow or heavy fog to comment on real world performance in poor weather, but with selective yellow and in an actual fog pattern I'm sure it wouldn't be an issue.

Thanks to all the work you've put in this thread, I'm very aware now :)
Last question along the lines of poor weather performance, would you say there's a point where brightness of the light does more harm than good? Just trying to avoid the mistake of buying the Pro's when they might be overkill, simply because they're the baddest and brightest!

I'll let @crashnburn80 answer, but I can offer some thoughts based on more than a few years of experience too. Brightness / power is not as big of a problem in poor weather as poor beam discipline. Said another way, focused light is your friend. Unfocused light is your enemy. That's why it's so important to match the beam pattern of a light to your use / need. Unfortunately, many folks think all lights are the same. Well, many cheap lights are the same. And those are generally the lights that cause the biggest problems. A fog light with a good cutoff - properly aimed - should not cause problems for either the driver or oncoming traffic. This thread will give you some more information on beam patterns and uses:

Getting back to your question of SS3 Sports vs Pros, I can personally attest to the fact that the Pros are not "too powerful."

Following all of this, if/when DD comes out with a 05-11 bracket I’m selling my selective yellow rigid’s. Going to pick up a set of their pros in amber.

@crashnburn80 I figured you would be the person to ask. You seem to be the resident expert when it comes to fog lights.

I found a pretty awesome deal on a set of white ss3 fog lights. I would prefer the yellow version. Is the lense what makes it yellow? Or are the led's itself also yellow? This will decide whether I pull the trigger or continue to wait for a yellow set. Thanks a bunch!!

Edit. Found my answer. Looks like the yellow fogs have a lower temperature than the whites. You do awesome reviews on these lights. Thanks for doing all that for the TW community.

The Yellow variant uses a different k emitter. Get the Yellow. Trust me.

The white lights use 6000k emitters, the yellow lights use 4000k emitters in addition to the yellow lens. Using a yellow lens on a 6000k emitter light is going to have a more green colored hue and sustain larger filtration losses than a 4000k emitter light. If you want a yellow fog light, you definitely want to get the yellow SS3 and not try to use a yellow lens on the 6000k light. For poor weather use I highly recommend going with the selective yellow.

Prolightz. Definitely your best bet if you're in Canada too.

Also, pro tip: add the lights to your cart, enter in your email address, then don't check out. You'll get an automatic e-mail with a 10% off code

SOB, I was about to place my order for the yellow SS3 Pros and of course the sale is no longer valid. Anyone know of any other deals going on right now on these?

@crashnburn80 Amazing thread you have put together here. Your research and postings are some of the best and most informative I have ever seen on an automobile forum. Thank you!

So is there any reason, if cost wasn’t a factor, that one would go with the SS3 Sports over the Pros? From what I gather, the Pros are brighter and give off more heat, but the Sports have a more direct cut off. If cost was the same, why would one go with the Sports over the Pros? I believe I am sold on the yellow Pros but just want to make sure I am not missing anything.
