Ive had the sports for a while now on my '10 and they are great for my purpose. I'm mainly driving around a small city with street lights and then dark state roads when coming home from fishing. The beam is a little more focused on the sports than the pros, so it helps keep the light out in front of me when driving other smaller roads.
I also don't mind leaving my sports on in clear weather to help illuminate the sides of the road when I'm behind another vehicle. The pros might be to much for that. All comes down to preference and usage.

Dark state road with 3000k sport fogs.

That’s been my experience. I use mine on interstate and highways often enough I went with the Sports.

And they definitely help cut through mist, fog, and rain over just your low beams.

Thoughts on installing the ss3 sport / pros on a small sedan? Since the fog light cutouts are much lower on my car compared to a truck, im worried it will produce too much foreground light and blind myself. I can raise them but I also don't want to cause any hazards for oncoming traffic.

Keep in mind, fogs are to be used when conditions call for them, they are not to be run all the time as 'aux lights'. If used appropriately for poor weather conditions foreground light is not an issue, as that is their primary purpose, to help illuminate/find the shoulder when conditions/visibility is poor. If you want a tighter beam pattern, go with the Sports.

Hi guys, so I’m looking to replace my stock fog lights. What do you guys recommend for daily driving and should be street legal fog lights. I like amber color thanks in advance!

I like the SS3 sport fogs, You can see my post on how they look in terms of the cutoff.

For me when I was looking for fogs price is definitely comes into the factor and functionality/performance.

The overall consensus is that the diode dynamics ss3 is the top performing legal fog light.

    I would start there.

Orrr.....page 1 of this thread. Haha.

As mentioned, Diode Dynamics SS3s are the best performing SAE fogs. I'm assuming by 'amber' you really mean selective yellow? They are available in a Tacoma specific mount kit.

I got mine from @memario1214 but I think pricing is based on the manufacturer. Next decent chance of a sale would be Labor Day. I got my set on July 4th. Install is a breeze.

awesome testing and write up, however after looking at this I believe I want to mount spots in the fog light position and use them in conjunction with high beams - I spend about half the year in Utah at 9000', and while we don't have fog we definitely have a lot of deer and elk - also, we had fifteen feet of snow year before last so the "runs hot and defrosts option" would be great, though I'm also sometimes there in midsummer when it can still be 90 degrees at dusk - I have no opinion between LED or halogen, and am not that price sensitive though I would like them to last - I have a very basic 2018 Tacoma which has a space in the bumper for lights, but no harness or wiring so am starting from scratch (and I'm getting a pro to install these, it's not something I've ever tried) - please, what would be your recommendation for extra light to use in conjunction with high beams in very remote areas with wildlife on a very basic stock 2018 Tacoma? is there another review I should be looking at? thank you !!!

If you're more worried about distance lighting, you could do what I did and mount a high quality LED bar behind the grill. I used a 30" Diode Dynamics Stage LED bar with all Driving pattern LEDs on Caliraised brackets. It's powered through a relay triggered by my high beams. Mighty impressive! The installation took a couple of hours.

Welcome! Spots will give you the best distance but the width of the pattern is also very small, so you are only going to illuminate what is directly ahead of you and not much to the shoulders. An SAE Driving style pattern will give good distance illumination with a wider pattern. Comparing 2 of the same lights in driving and spot, the driving light won't illuminate quite as far as the spot, but the pattern is more usable. For a distance light, you generally don't want to mount them down low, making the fog location not ideal. It is doable, but higher is better. If wanting to mount driving lights in the fogs, I'd suggest the Diode Dynamics SS3s in Driving pattern.

Some other options to consider, the KC Pro6 as tested here which have exceptional performance, though mounting is a bit of a challenge due to the size of the light and they will not get hot enough to defrost. Behind the grill seems like the easiest using a BAMF behind the grill mount, but that will depend on which grill you have and there will be some losses from the grill in a behind the grill mount.
Or alternatively you could use a light bar, which will have greater output than the pods. Diode Dynamics has driving light bars which are popular to mount in the lower grill opening.
