Yes the drop is linear. Precision is less at short range, 12’ 6” with a 2” drop would be better. Otherwise 6’3” is the distance you’d want for a 1” drop.

I know that I'm over thinking this. Do I take the drop from top of lense, the hot spot line at 23" or the cut off at 23.5"?

    Thank you

Top of lens to the cut off line on the wall is typically how it is done. But if you wanted to use the cut off at the lamp to the cut off on the wall that would be even more accurate. Hot spots are not used for aiming fogs.

    Thank you again, appreciate it.

Now the part about maybe no comparison.....thinking the amber/dark yellow lense is going to look like CRAP against the white front end.

Hotspot was probably the wrong term. Picture shows 2 definite lines on the ruler. Which would you use?

    The upper line.

I wouldn't think so. It will definitely look aftermarket though, but not in a bad way IMO.

Nope. SS3 Max fogs in selective yellow.

Well at least the before pictures will now be accurate. Wish in all the DD pictures of the fog light patterns that they'd have used a LED f150 instead of a halogen version.

Looks much better on yours than mine IMO. I'd better learn to like it because I can't get it out without removing stuff.

Looks clean to me. Wait till you drive with them and see how their extreme performance put your headlights to shame, especially on the poor performing F150 LED headlights. You definitely won't think about going back.

Would love to know the candela of the factory LED fogs since it appears that the stock fog is overwhelming the SS3 max but not sure. Both aimed the same. One thing is for sure, there's no snow or ice that won't be melted by the max, wow it gets hot.

Looks like your Max is aimed low vs the OEM LED. It is exceptionally doubtful the stock LEDs overwhelm the Max, but if you wanted to lend me one of your Ford OEM LED fogs I can provide all the comparison specs. PM me if interested.

I'll send you the one I just took out as I'd love to know. This thread is 252 pages long but I'm betting you remember. What fogs did someone post pictures of that weren't flat across the top but "V" in the middle? I may have to readjust because the gap is not even left to right.

Are you referring to the original DD Tacoma fog release? Using both mount screws on 2nd gen had it not sitting level horizontally, but using a single mount screw like 3rd Gen fixed the issue.

Yep, that is it. Do you think that could possibly be contributing here? I thought it was a DD thing.

Your gap difference looks small. I’m unfamiliar with the F150 mounts. On the Tacoma’s there was an OEM fog design change from 2nd Gen to 3rd Gen, but the fogs were compatible if installed correctly. On 2nd Gen, if the DD fogs were installed like 3rd Gen (which they were designed for) with only the one screw they worked, but if you used the same install points as 2nd Gen with 2 screws then they were tilted. Somewhat confusing, but if installed properly they were level.

Yes, thought it made a direct comparison easier. Not your fault, not bitching at you but you'd think a $520 msrp item would come with an allen wrench. Had to go scrounging for a loose one and couldn't find one. Ended up using a long one with a ball end, think the angle I had to come in might have contributed to me not having the light in square. If that is causing the drop in the middle.

Not having an aiming screw (most pods don’t) does make aiming more of a challenge for sure. I find tightening them down to the point they won’t move on their own, but you can still tilt the lamp with sufficient force by hand from the front of the light is the easiest way to aim them.
