I'm actually really happy with the unit I have, and having it smart device based makes data sharing online super easy. What is really cool, is since the data is stored in the app on my phone, at any time I can compare any two lights I have ever measured with it without needing to go get my equipment. I only need the tool to take new measurements. I just need a higher end model than I originally purchased.
    https://www.lightingpassport.com/#features

I actually have one. :spy: I just have a really difficult time finding the extra time to build it out, so it isn't published yet. Keeping up on the threads, testing new products, keeping up on my PMs, trying to research new ideas on-top of the day job plus family life and all the other responsibilities, I am continually sleep deprived running on caffeine. But it is all fun! One of the projects I have been looking into is using something like Stripe or other payment service for those looking to donate funds to the cause. Several have donated by PMing me for Paypal, which I do really appreciate.

I haven’t seen them sold individually, that could be a challenge.

Really? I haven't found singles for that price. Gotta link? I paid $255 for a pair through Jegs (best price at the time).

    Toyota OEM LED Fogs

    Toyota part numbers:
    Black surround: PT413-42191
    Chrome surround: PT413-42190

Toyota OEM LED fog, black surround pictured
    7GkFQoVKSSOuMiQtvg06%Q.jpg

These units are made by Valeo, which is Toyota's OEM fog light supplier (save Rigid on the Pro). They are the same company that supplied the halogen flog light. Unlike the other OEM lights, these are made in China.

    eM%0VGVmRwuOW+OUEM8jiw.jpg

Like the Rigid OEM lights, these have a blue hue at the top of the beam, and a warmer yellow hue at the bottom of the beam. The beam pattern has excellent wide angle projection, but like the Morimotos and others, the beam is not very tall. Rigid and KC provide much larger pattern area coverage.

The Toyota LED fogs consume 6.6w each.

    auxt9+94QQic+d3aoKM18A.jpg

The Morimoto comparison is an easy one to draw due to low price point and styling. The Morimotos use 3 LEDs behind the projector, the OEM Toyota uses 1. The Toyota fogs are about 13% brighter than the Morimotos, while also costing significantly less. The Morimotos have a slightly better (lower) color temp.

As a budget LED fog upgrade the OEM Toyota units look pretty hard to beat. They certainly are no-where near Rigid's SAE pods or KC's G4 LEDs in performance, but they out perform what was previously the most budget friendly option at an even lower price point while carrying the OEM Toyota logo and being completely plug and play.

These can presently be purchased for about $125 directly from Toyota dealers off of ebay and Amazon.

@crashnburn80 just an update on the KC amber lights. The fogs were causing some issues the RF and the Ham Radio. Just sent them a quick message to let them know in case they weren't aware.

They're sending me out some rf chokes. So +1 again for good customer service on their end. Just thought I'd share.

Interesting, good to know! I used to have a mounted CB radio, but now I just use handheld FRS radios plugged into the USB power for trail runs. Simple and light weight. I haven't tried them yet with my fogs on though. Keep us posted on if the rf chokes fix the problem!

Warning! Jeep Wrangler 4" Fog Post!

The Wrangler takes 4" fogs just like the Tacoma. I recently had the chance to test out the OEM Wrangler LEDs.

JWSpeaker LED fogs off a Rubicon 10th anniversary edition Rubicon vs OEM LED fog package off a 2018 Rubicon.

    94EYk6mXSYuqfmYj7aaxBA.jpg

OEM LED fog, narrow beam pattern like Morimoto and others.
    CakXTNNJQC+ZMjv8oIn9vg.jpg

JWSpeaker beam pattern. By far best in class for pattern spread of anything I have seen, about 2.75 door panels. Rigid and KC were nearly 2 panels. The JWSpeakers are almost 3 door panels, while base OEM is only 1 panel.
    vwrN0aVyTEKVojV73asPVA.jpg

    Output:
    fullsizeoutput_fba.jpg

While the OEM Wrangler LED fogs produce great beam intensity, their pattern coverage is poor. The JWSpeaker fogs have outstanding best in class pattern coverage, but their intensity isn't quite up to that of KC, which does have a bit smaller coverage area which helps focus output to increase lux numbers. You can see KC's output numbers are higher than JWSpeaker and the color temperature is lower.

    KC G4 by comparison:
    Measurements:
    Color: 5062k
    Lux @ 18ft: 296.3

Given the height of the JW Speaker fog pattern, aren't they almost a mid-beam as opposed to a fog beam pattern?

They certainly would be an extended reach fog. It would be intestine to try them mounted with just the fogs (no headlights). I didn’t share the power draw, but they drew an impressive 22.5w! Which is more than the Rigid pods.
