Did a little fog light demo last night comparing Baja, Rigid and KC with @Kidwidataco and @AssQuake, as well as test fitting the various lights into @AssQuake new bumper.

In my experience its fine, but a little bright for congested or frequent traffic.

 

Yup, Rigid lights hands down. You could clearly see the rigid lights, output and cut off wise THROUGH the baja lights. I was honestly expecting for the bajas to be better, but I will be purchasing the rigid soon.

 

Good choice. You won't regret it at all.

 

Still waiting on my Rago brackets to mount mine.

 

I'm excited to purchase them. I might wait til some baja fanboy sells his set. But the amber and actual cut off of the rigid lights would be hugely beneficial to me during snowboard season.

 

i love my rigid sae fogs with the amber covers no crazy glare like those baja ones

 

That’s why I went with the rigids, night driving in the snow or blizzard driving is not when I want glare

 

I have the Rigid’s but haven’t installed yet because I don’t really like to mounting kit for the 3rd gen. Has anyone thought of using Rigid’s mounting bracket and clearing out the factory bezel to allow the square fog to come through? Just an idea, trying to come up with something a little more factory looking.

 

Ya, I will likely do the Fog any time mod as well. My bright white retrofits wont be very helpful this winter. But the rigid lights are bright enough (over 300 lux) that it will be plenty enough light for me, and other drivers to see me.

 

I havent seen much for the third gens. Rago mounts makes nice flush style light mounts for the second gens though

 

First off i want to say thanks to @crashnburn80 for taking time to demo these lights for us! He set up his equipment and gave us real time readings for each light.

Im not a fan boy for any of these brands and I'm certainly not a cranky old dude that has something to complain about but these Baja Design "SAE fogs" are absolute garbage for legal use. I sold my Rigid SAE fogs in hope these would offer a proper fog pattern with a really cool aesthetic design. I regret...

The light spill is horrendous. This is on a level of HID's in a reflector bowl type of glare/spilled light.

Ever get blinded for a few seconds from oncoming traffic by those lights? Your vision will adjust to the bright lights and you'll have a bad time focusing on the road. We've all been there so don't be that asshole and respect other drivers.

We fired up the BajaDesign SAE fogs and i sat eye level in the driver seat, and without conscious control i was fixated on the bright yellow orbs of light when i should be focusing on the road. this is a NO-NO and it takes 2 seconds to disorient another driver with obnoxious lights. I can't imagine how bad the white leds would be irl and we've already seen the promo video with the white LEDs, sooooo lol!


This photo was taken well above the "cut-off" holding my camera, arms fully extended over my head and we still see the glare.

 

Now im torn between going back to Rigid Industries SAE fogs or trying KC G4 fogs.

They'll be going into a steel bumper with circle cutouts. Rigids have the best pattern and intensity but they're cubes They also emit a nice bit of heat which is good for snow days. KCs are round and fit perfect except their amber output isn't bright enough for my liking so ill have to go with white. maybe i can vinyl wrap the KCs for selective yellow? someone please chime in if they've done that haha

 

I'm planning on getting the Rigid lights and use amber covers when I need it.

 

Baja designs was all over this thread defending themselves about the fogs
