Last night I drove across the pass on a windy 2 lane mountain highway in heavy rain and intermittent very heavy fog. The fog was so bad in some places you could only see maybe a couple car lengths at best and I had to slow way down to residential street speeds on the highway because I couldn’t see the road. The Rigid selective yellows performed awesome. Even my halogen headlights had a hard time cutting through the fog, often just highlighting the fog rather than beyond it. I felt really bad for those with their white led headlights and fog lights in these conditions. My only complaint is while the shoulder illumination was outstanding, I really wanted more forward illumination, since the late model 2nd Gen 12-15 angles the fogs out to the side. The upcoming Rigid 360 series have a much wider area of projection than the D-series I am currently running, so they should do a better job of forward illumination. But I may repurpose my current D-series fogs to forward facing in the lower bumper to run in conjunction with the 360 series for some outstanding fog killing performance.

I had some pockets for fog the other morning on my way to work. The BD done a good job but I can tell the upward throw of the light in the fog while turning them on and off. My HIDs did ok aswell, however my D2 driving on my apillar was like putting a nice clean bed sheet in front of me. I love the looks of the BD in my application but thinking down the road ( leveling kit next year or so with 33s) I dont think I'll be able to adjust the BD as much as thr RI fogs. I emailed RI and asked if there are planning on making brackets for older model vehicles, so far no reply. But my advice is get the RI fogs, better cut off (still have yet to be flashed with my BD or pulled over) and more adjustable than BD (depends on application). For now I'll just save up for lighting upgrades after a winch. And thanks Crashnburn again for all the helpful information.

    What year/model is your vehicle?

In other news I finally saw the raw test data for SAE compliance testing on the BD SAE fogs. 15x+ over the legal limit for glare at 2.25 vertical degrees above the cut off. Fifteen. Times. Plus.

Only 15 times over the limit? Hell, anybody could have missed that. As Ricky Ricardo once said, "Somebody's got some 'splaining to do."

Of course there are plenty of junk Chinese LEDs out there that have well over 15 times the limit. Words fail me.

I finally pulled the trigger after browsing this forum for several weeks. @crashnburn80 did a fantastic job at creating a unbiased scientific approach! I went with the Gravity G4's - the price was a bit steep, but I didn't want to be underwhelmed with the Morimoto's and OEM options nor did I want a square pod design (although RIGID is releasing a drop in pod version very soon). The fantastic warranty also made the decision easy.

Initially, I was underwhelmed at the output, but I think the important thing to realize is that fog lights are just that - they are not headlight replacements. After driving for a few miles in some dark alleys, they actually compliment my headlights perfectly and allow enhanced peripheral vision. Comparing some drone shots of the OEM fogs and KC's, the difference is pretty evident. I'm actually impressed.

Awesome drone shots! I’ve often thought about using a drone in a similar fashion, but just never pulled the trigger.

Yes, you are correct, the fogs should ideally fill in nicely under the headlights and significantly improve peripheral vision. They should help illuminate the shoulders/ditches, but they are not headlight supplements. The G4’s are really nice fogs, they fill in a much larger area with a higher intensity and better light quality than the Morimotos.

You might also reconsider those XD LEDs headlights:

Wow that's way over, when i turn out of my street a face a shopping center with thos glass windows and can tell the BD are brighter than my Hids. Sadly I dont have a Toyota, yet, I have a 2013 F150. Only reason I went with BD was for the looks and now wishing I would have waited for the 360's even if I had to modify or make a bracket for them. I doubt RI will make on for my truck so I'll either get the RI dually and the proper bracket or custom fab one up for a set of 360's, would give me a excuse to practice/ start learning to weld and fabricate. On another note I have yet to see if RI is going to offer covers for the 360 lights. With my D2 driving lights I have the clear on 99% of the time but I have ran the amber cover if I now it's going to be bad weather or foggy. Last thing, has anyone seen the color temp of the 360's? I may get a set of 6 in driving or spot to replace the D2 driving.

I just about pulled the trigger on the KC G4's! I like the ease of install. I still am considering Rigid. The 360's are the newest, best fit option from them?
