I mean this is pretty much how they would have to do it. They aren't going back to the drawing boards on an 'SAE' design that isn't really in any of their product lines.

Get it sorted asap and put the BD teams back on the lasers please..

I have 2 sets on order so I’ll likely have them by the time you do your tests but I’ll still be eager to see your results and input.

For what it's worth I sent my White D series SAE Rigids in to have them swap the lens and the LEDs to selective yellow. Pretty easy process and their turn around time was really good. I think just over a business week until they were back in my hands. They handled that really well so I imagine a warranty claim would be painless enough too.

"In more understandable terms, that is the equivalent of 1.19 candles at 10 meters."

I'll politely admit that this didn't make it more understandable. Can a resident lighting engineer dumb it down a little for me?

hopefully there is NO glare over the cut off line.

other manufacturers are getting it right the first fucking time.

next time don't advertise something that isn't

I'm curious as to how the D series mount for a Third Gen compares with the 360. My Third Gen mounted D series don't seem to point as much into the shoulder as your second gen with the rago mounts. I do have the Rigid mount kit for them in the stock fog lamp location on my truck.

In English, They blind oncoming vehicles. But don't worry the @Baja Designs engineers drove around with them and nobody flashed their high beams, so they gave it the all good.

I'm really exited to get my SS3 Pros mounted up. If only they shipped sooner! They look mighty fine.

Light intensity is measured in Candela (cd), which is roughly "1 candle". You'll notice that some lighting companies include this unit of output measurement in their specs cited as Cd, like KC and Diode Dynamics. (Which I always appreciate more spec data). So they are saying their lights emit 1.35 candela (cd) or 1.35 candles worth of light above the legal limit, above the horizontal cut off. This doesn't match the numbers I have. However they are using one of the major well know compliance test agencies, and have run the original lights and the modified prototype lights to validate compliance for light above the cut off, and then to be extra sure they were running the production unit through compliance testing. I'm aware of another lab that has compliance tested these lights and have been looking to get ahold of the test data as a 3rd data point for comparison.

3rd Gen D-series Rago mounts point straight forward, only the 2nd Gen 12-15 mounts benefit from the side angling D-series mount for the ultra wide pattern. While the D-series have the highest intensity output, in a forward facing mount you'd likely benefit more with something using a wider pattern for better shoulder illumination. In the 3rd Gen the KC G4s use a flush mount which will angle to the sides and will give you a far wider area of coverage, although they are not available in selective yellow. However, if you are currently running the white version, the KC G4 offers a much better 5000k color white than the higher color temp Rigid D-series whites.

Edit: just realized you had the lens swap to selective yellow.

I'm trying to do a quick crash course on units of light measurement, and I think I'm confusing myself. I don't see a lot of references to measuring light in candles- the more common American unit I'm seeing is foot-candles. Like- the difference between miles and miles per hour. If the case is that the lights are 1.19 candles above threshold at 10 meters, does that mean they are (32.8 feet * 1.19 candles) = 39 foot candles above threshold? Measured in lux, that's 420 lux over threshold?

    @Diode Dynamics

Quick clarification please. Are your candela ratings for a single light/pod, or for a pair of lights?

For both your white and selective yellow options, you list the "Sport Spot" as having a higher max candela rating than the "Pro Spot," this is due to the smaller, more intense emitters, correct?

You mentioned a few times the possibikity of swapping the selective yellow optic over 4000k led for the clear white optic. Do you sell the clear white optic separately?

I'm interested in picking up a set of fog lamps (selective yellow) and potentially a set of spots or driving beams, if you make the optics available separately. I'm very interested in having a set of neutral white auxiliary lamps. I currently have a set of LED Cibie Super Oscars on the front of my '99 4runner, which are extremely blue, which limits their usefullness.

Interesting. Yeah I am running selective yellow now and they are noticeably better than the white color I had previously. I would like to swap to the 360 series but feel like it’s too much of a hassle at this point as I’d have to sell my current setup and brackets and try to source original fog lamp bezels as I sold my stock ones. Gonna stick with what I got for now. Really cool that Rigid keeps improving upon their tech in this category though. Good on them!

I’m beyond impressed with the Rigid SAE pods mounted up into the ARB bumper SLEE inserts. Light output blows away folks I overtake on two-lane roads and it has made me re-think my “need” for ditch lights.

If you use Gmail check the Promotions folder, that's where my email was at. I sent on off to Baja Designs. Will see what happens.
