Are the Philips LED gen1 fog bulbs covered in this thread anywhere?

No, they are not an SAE compliant product. All the LEDs covered in this thread are street legal, those are not.

Check out this post of running Osram/Sylvania LEDs in the OEM fogs, you'll see there is significant glare caused by using the LED in the fog housing compared to an SAE LED fog light. Short wall shot photos will conceal much of the glare issue, especially with the headlights on.

I don’t suppose you’re able to assess from a photo if my Philips LED fogs are causing a glare issue.

I have the Philips 12793UNIX2 (yellow/amber) installed in my factory 4Runner fog reflectors. While it appears that the bulk of the light has a defined cutoff, there is a noticeable spill.

Sometimes I'll park in my driveway and cycle the lights to look at the pattern. Only recently (after discovering this thread) I've noticed yellow light spilling up to the top of two-story houses. This is undesirable for a fog light.

You can check this for yourself. If you see a noticeable amount of yellow light above your headlights, you're glaring.

To evaluate this it really helps to have the foglight anytime mod done, as in short range wall shots the headlights will conceal the uplight. But you are going to have excessive uplight compared to an SAE fog assembly.

Glad to see I'm not the only one that does this. Even with SAE compliant fogs I like to check the pattern.

Yep, I came to the same conclusion. I pointed out the fact that the fog “spill” lights up the trees overhead and got lambasted for referring to this as “glare”. I think I was correct in my assertion but i don’t know enough about this to argue.

I totally know what you mean about lighting up two story houses. The cut off is intense. But so is the glare.

The nearby Family Dollar is where I make all my adjustments. On my way to work it's empty and I can adjust on a flat surface. My driveway is sloped and angled which throws off the perspective.

What's the consensus for the go to Amber Fog lights? It's seems like the G4 is the favorite, any other thoughts?

For amber there are only two options, Morimoto or KC G4. The G4’s are a better product with larger pattern area and wider light spectrum for better color representation, and have a far greater 23yr warranty. But selective yellow from other vendors will be higher in output intensity, have higher contrast for better visibility and still offer the same poor weather performance traits making it a more ideal choice than amber for most.

Anyone received the DD pro fogs yet? I’m still on the wait list until January 10 but anxious to see some reviews.

I kinda da want to see some reviews of the DD sae driving pattern vs the flood. Ti many good lights to chose from nowadays. Also curious to see BD fix, and how it effects the sae lights.

What is your intended use? Because those patterns are very different and would not be used in the same scenario.

Well I'm going by the photos DD has on there website. The sae driving seems a bit more focused vs the flood. I'm planning on replacing my D2 duallys in driving pattern with something brighter. I'd love a set of BD Xl80s but they are pretty pricey for me right now. Then mount the D2's on a Westing grill guard eventually or Squadrin pros there. Ever since I've followed and read through this thread I've been more focused on using lights on how they are intended vs raw power.

The driving are far more focused than a flood. Look at the candela ratings and lux at 10 meters in their specs on the website, while the lights have the same lumen output, you will have far more intensity for distance projection with the driving light. It would be helpful to see beam distance specs to further illustrate the difference, but those are not provided. Driving lights are intended to extend your distance vision and offer a wider than spot pattern to help illuminate the full width of the roadway plus some including any turns ahead. These are to aid you in seeing further than your stock high beams and are street legal. Flood will be very short range wide area for situational awareness, they will not help you see further than your stock high beams and are not a street legal pattern. In a forward facing mounted position, flood will be ideal for technical trails at night, where you want to see what is immediately around you and are not concerned with what is far away. Most people will find driving lights more commonly useful than short range flood lights. Each pattern has a specific purpose, so you want to match the purpose you are trying to achieve with the pattern that is best designed to accomplish it.

Thanks. I've thought about getting the BD Xl80 in combo and once I get the Grill guard and a set of Swuadron pros in wide cornering I could swap the Xl80 to a spot lens. I've just been reading and trying to find good output shots so I can buy once cry once kinda deal. One reason I like BD is they let you change the lens if you want to.
