Oh, and you said when you took the heat shield off it stopped rattling? How did you secure the filter? I may try that tomorrow?

 

It just floats there. There is a larger collar that the filter gets hosed clamped to where it connects to the tube. The filter literally just hovered in the middle of the shield. Eff that thing in the A, I'm so glad it's gone.

 

Well how is the intake tube supported then? If I take my heatshield off, Im pretty sre the filter will just be resting on the inner fender. The shield is what holds It all up. Ya know.

 

There is a bracket half way up the tube that is bolted down, and has a hose clamp securing the tube. Even with the fan kicked on that things stays put.

 

Ahhh. I see. Yeah I guess mine has those mounts too.. but the filter is still far out over those mounts so i think it might have too much leverage or something and sag. If that makes sense. I'll try it tho.

These things are money pits man. Sounds like a tight situation, but at least you both have work, and have been able to come this far with modding. The s/c is over a year out...my girlfriend asked me what I wanted for Christmas so I said "a URD supercharger which is 4 grand". Her response was "damn it I wish you would have said something earlier because I would have saved, and got it for you." I died laughing then quickly shut that idea down when she became serious. I can not, and will not allow the money bleeding effect her finances...though I have my suspicions she will get it for me for my birthday

I'm really sorry to hear that man. I really am. Every day that goes by and we get closer to block leave my work days become more stressful. The time off has been long over due. I got a TW meet on Saturday with the So Cal gents, and that will hopefully serve as a medium for stress relief for the coming week.
