The Lumpskie Build - '96 5-speed

Nice. Great minds think alike, I did mine exactly the same way, using the original bulb mount. Didn't have to cut any wires, everything reached perfectly.
Toyota should have done this from the factory.

 

I agree! Hey, did you have to trim down your bulb mount any more than in your pictures? (I went back and read your thread again... man, we have almost the same truck!) I originally cut my mounts very similar to yours but I couldn't fit them back onto the truck! So, I had to shave them like you see in my final photos. Also, how are they holding up, after years of use?

 

I didn't have to trim them, might be a difference in the angle of mount? Hole location? I dunno.
They are still in place, I had them out last week with an AC repair and they looked fine.

 

My clutch pedal is occasionally sticking to the floor... The last time it did that, the metal in the pedal assembly which positions the center of the spring had worn away. I'll have to check and see if that happened again. Last time a little filler welding took care of the issue. Hopefully, that will be the case again!

The PO replaced the hydraulics but I still have to use my toe to bring my pedal up all the way - it gets stuck about half way - not all the way on the floor like he said it used to before replacing the MC.

 

ah. Mine does this too. Take a photo or two. I have just gotten used to grabbing it and lifting it back up hahaha only does it occasionally.

 

I'll see if I can get home from work while it's still light out one day this week. If I can, I'll poke around and grab a couple pictures of what I find!

That brass bushing might be the ticket. Though my filler weld did last almost 100,000 miles... maybe I'll try a combination of both!

 

Ok... it's official. I'm selling my beloved Taco. 5 vehicles are just too many for me to handle. This decision has been tough, given the work I put into getting it to where it is. So, I'd like it to go to a good home. If any of you guys know someone that is looking, let me know. Asking $8500 OBO.

 

That sucks, your taco is awesome. But totally understandable, especially with the sweet 80.

Yeah, I'm thinking of starting a build on here for the Landcruiser next. It's probably going to be a slower build than I'd like. But, at least it's a good starting point!

Old post but I got a question for you. I see in your leaf pack you are missing the top nut and bolt (Probably due to the amount of leafs you have added). Im not all that familiar with the anatomy of a leaf pack but I had AALs installed 2 weeks ago and since then that bolt is missing, does this pose any issues? For clarification I am referring to the bolt slot in the far middle left of the picture.

 

nothing major no. It'll let the top leafs sperate a lot more..but that is about it.

 

Well, the Tacoma is sold. So, after a few years, it looks like this build is complete...

 

Thanks for the condolences, man. My only consolation is that the Landcruiser build will really get under way now. I'm ordering steel this week.

Oh, I forgot to mention... The Taco is heading to your neck of the woods... Vancouver, WA. Who knows, you actually wheel with it.
