    Me and a buddy are planning a 2 day expedition trip on this trail called Whipsaw. Its going to be the most challenging trail ive ever been on. Were thinking late August or early Sept.

    That's a good point. While not all of Magruder is high alt, much is and the temps I was referring to were for Elk City. So yeah, maybe mid-80s would be more accurate.

    I can bring some extra firewood for the trip, we'll still need to find some up there as well but at least this stuff is already cut up so we don't have to work too hard. Splitting maul, bow saw (no chainsaw, sorry). I also have a 5 gallon water jug I can bring and my camp stove which I don't mind sharing. Should I bring my tarp/shelter in case it rains? Portable table (only if we end up out of a campground...)?
    I do have a radio now, and basic recovery gear. Nothing fancy but then I don't do this sort of thing a whole lot so I've never wanted to spend tons of money on such things.

    As I said earlier, be prepared to drag it. You may be fine 99% of the time, but it is a compromise. :D

    I think Monte is bringing a chainsaw. I have a 7 gallon water jug I will bring and I am also bringing a propane camp stove.

    Is it an easy-up shelter that you have? So far in the reports there is no indication of any weather fronts moving thru during our time there but if you have the room, bring it.

    How big is your table? If you have the room, bring it. I do not have one and probably do not have the room anyway.


    Actually, on the Magruder there will be primitive campgrounds along the way. I don't know if there will be picnic tables at them but there will be vault toilets.

    Ehhhh don't like it really. Yes that affects the departure angle a ton. Also it puts a ton of weight behind your leafs which increases the load and stress on them so youll loose lift amd wear your leafs out even more. Ask me how I know..

    I'll have a 10gal jug if water that anyone is more then welcome too as well as a stove.

    I will bring a chain saw too amd full axe amd hatchet. I'm hoping to have my Kitchenette together for the trip too but I'd bring the shelter, might be nice just for shade.
